Grand Prix GTP

THey dont really have many ****** problems until you mod them , then you might have to take a little less off your lead foot, but the GTP's had a HD version of the GT's ******. 4T65E is the HD lineup,
Only thing i dont like about them is how cheap the interior/seats are

Eh what can ya do
he will probably put racing seats in whatever he gets, so that isnt a problem for him...is there anything you can do to the ****** to keep it running longer? Transmission cooler?

Sure , could do a ****** cooler, its not going to be a huge deal unless he goes heavy into the modding , IC, TB, pulleys , if hes just doing minor mods I wouldnt worry about it , but always reccomend a ****** cooler

i told him he should prbably do a intake pulley, intake, exhaust, and computer...how bad will that be on the ******?

My friend is looking for a new car, something with some power and still gets pretty good gas mileage, and is reliable. I suggested that he look into the GTP. Has anyone had any experience with one, and can you tell me if it was a good car. And how easy is it to make more power out of the supercharged 3.8 v6?
I have a 2002 GTP (40Th Anniversary )

The 240HP of the GTP is Great, I drive alot of highway miles . I get 28 MPG going 70 MPh

But the juice is there when you need it.

The 3800 Series GM motors will run forever. I wont change the pullys or anything like that, i did upgrade to the K&N filter.

I can attest to this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.. In my 1999 Grand Prix GT (same drive train w/out a SC), I went through an engine and a transmission. My buddy with a 1998 Grand Prix GT, same as mine, but red, and a year older, went through two transmissions.
The sad thing is, mine was never driven hard. It was babied all the time. I wish I could say the same for my friends car, he beat the shit out of the thing.

I would say that they are pretty reliable, as I am looking into getting a GTP //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Stay away from auction vehicles, as that is where I got mine at... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
GTPs do not have the same drive train as a GT.

also look into gettin the U bend in the exhaust removed and put in a straight pipe. From what i read that steals alot of power right there, but it has the bung for the O2 sensor so you have to put the bung back int.

Before i got my 626 i was trying to get a GTP but i couldnt get the loan for it.

i have a 97 gtp, 75 k miles, avg 25 mpg, i drive kinda hard too, same engine and ******, i bought it last year , 6,000 dollars, it had 60k when i got it, since then heres the problems

radiator hose broke - 15 bucks

window regulator - 50

**** side effect things on the door come off on driver side - patience and work

thats about it, i have a short where my horn honks 5 times every once in a while i catch it

other than that i love my car
