Well the budget expires midnight on the east coast. If they dont come up with a new one then all government work stops. except for exempt employees. Then negotiations continue Monday morning. Work continues as normal when a budget is agreed upon.

I work for a government contractor next to a naval air base so pretty much everyone around here works at the base or is a government contractor. So I will definitely effected if there is a shutdown. Luckily we have funding for a couple more weeks so we won't have to be furloughed if the budget isn't passed until then.

yeah not giving them money while they are shut down from not having enough money is a good idea, it will definitely solve our problems

The govt would LOVE for us all to believe that. Reality check, they are shutting down because neither side can agree how to divvy out the ridiculous amounts of money they take in. I agree that us hitting them where it counts, in THEIR pocketbook, might be the incentive necessary to make them start acting responsible, and quit playing political games with the welfare of American citizens.

They pay out massive amounts of money in pork barrel projects, to line the pockets of people and organizations/companies that will help them get elected next voting cycle. They 'bail out' industries that have proven they have no desire to be responsible with their authority (money), and when this tightens the purse strings, they simply print more money. Printing more money makes every current dollar in existence, less valuable, which effectively is stealing the value of people's hard earned savings, retirement plans, etc. Not much different than simply reaching into our wallets, and stealing money from us, to pay their buddies and political allies, to get themselves reelected so THEIR wallets keep getting fatter. What the hell do those millionaire congressmen care, so long as they get theirs. The rest of our society could devolve into a vast 3rd-world type system of haves and have nots... they will be a part of the economic elite 'haves', and they know it. Yet we just keep voting them into office. "Change"? Whatever.

The really pathetic part is, they only do it, because they can, have, and will get away with it right up until the end, because we as a collective society are too stupid to see it or do a damn thing to stop them.
