gotta a question about where to fire my sub

i'm getting a 15" xxx and i am gonna put it in a sealed box. in my trunk there is a bar that comes down in the back, and is only 11" high so i cannot slide my box all the way back like i wanted too. so i was thinking of making the box like 10" high and having the sub fire up towards the rear deck and window. i plan to remove the 6x9's and deaden the rear deck just leaving the 2 holes where the 6x9's were. does this sound like it will work and sound good?

Firing up should sound fine, ive done a couple of installs where the subs fired up towards the rear deck, should sound great, just be sure to deaden that rear deck real good.

Don't do it. I did that with mine and all I want to do is get it firing to the rear. It just doesn't sound right to me with the sub firing up. It's like the bass cancels itself out... when I roll the windows down it is much louder and you can feel it a lot more. I'm planning on building my new box for it this week. I know it's not the sub either, I messed around with the L5 a bit and I just like em the best firing back in my car. I guess it could be something to do with the car too.

i think i'll fire it forwards. i'm thinking of making the box 15" by 12" by 18.5" internal, giving me about 1.9 cubes without sub displacement. i'm gonna be running 2500 watts rms to it so i don't want to go too big on the box. i'll probably stuff a little polyfill in it.

i wanna say ~9 but i cant remember off the top of my head
