This is the car in my sig. The first setup was an Eclipse 5444, some little douche bag decided that he deserved it more than me at the end of last summer. Then I got an 8454 used that had issues reading disks. So I spent about the last three months shopping for a deck. I was totally sold on a new 7100 and almost pulled the trigger, when I read a post somewhere on the Clarion Drz9255. I looked it up and changed my mind. I am so glad I did.
I also swapped out my PPI Art 600.2, which was running the kick panels loaded with DLS Ultimate 6.5" two way component set running passive. They sounded pretty descent but not smooth.
I am now running a U.S. Amps Xterminator 800.4 active to the same components. WOW! I will never have a passive setup ever again in my life. For those of you on the fence about going active....do it yesterday.
I expected to hear a difference between the two amps (power wise) but I dont at all...if anything the new amp is louder, with less power.

It was a dumb mistake....started cranking before remembering to adjust high crossover points. They did not give any hint of stress or clipping, just popped. I was stressing like mad at first. Those things are $300 shipped! them I remembered that I had my JL Xr comps laying around still so I stole the tweeters out of that set and hooked the driver's side up. ****. Sounded like shit compared to the DLS. Oh well I will have to live with it.....WAIT! I have some Tang Bands laying around too! Twenty minutes later I am listening to the best my car has ever sounded....ever. I am blown away for a $20 driver.

I have to say that taking a chance on the Xterminators has worked out very well
They are bulletproof, clean, cool, and small. Perfect amps imo. I don't know for sure what my 4000D is actually putting out but it moves my Avalanche verry nicely. I want to get it metered after I get done tuning just to see what a SQL setup will do. Next box will be a hair bit smaller and tuned lower, probably 27hz.
So BIG thumbsup for Clarion, US, Tangband....and most of all Going Active!
