Well, i got some photos today of my new install.

They were taken at night (my only real freetime anymore) so some things came out a little strange. One thing, is the speaker pods in the front door look nearly perfectly colormatched in person, the pics don't do them justice. The rest is pretty much accurate:

Pics taken with my temporary kenwood amp from bestbuy, my excellon xxv-02a is at the shop having a channel replaced that was blown right out of the box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Let me know what you think. I'll take some daytime photos tomorrow, nightshots on my camera don't do it justice, although they do make the woodgrain look rather nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

that's one of the new hifonics amps isnt it?

how do you like it?

i looks a little small for a 2000 watt amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

very clean setup though

The hifonics sounds great, the entire system needs some tweaking, subs sound like they're slightly delayed compared to the rest of the music, not sure if it's the phasing, or if i need to adjust the distance settings on the head unit.

I thought the same thing about the front speakers at first, they look to be pointing down, because the entire door panel is sloped inward toward the bottom, but when the doors are shut, they're parallel with the bottom of the glovebox and the bottom of the dash. The temporary kenwood doesn't have enough juice to get any midbass out of them, yet, unfortunately, hopefully i'll have my xxv-02a back by the weekend, having the system tuned up on saturday.

I'll run and take a pic of the type-x's as soon as southpark's over.

Thanks for the input, it's my first 1/2 way decent install. I didn't intend for the install to be quite so involved, but everything in the car ended up being completely custom. My radio bezel didn't show up in time, not even my type-r's would fit in the doors, my amps wouldn't fit on the seatbacks where i wanted them originally, and the kenwood speakers up front, well, you can see how much work went into getting those to fit! I can't even open my glovebox without opening the passenger door they stick out so far. The reason for that is the factory speakers were like 3/4" deep, and were mounted on the door panel itself, and not IN the door, so there was no way to make them fit and not rattle without completely custom doorpods.

And yes, next step will be kickpods for the kenwoods. I think they'll really shine sealed. 1st i wanna hear what kind of midbass they can make once i have 88w rms running to them, tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Side-note: I'm not sure if the speakers are really level, or if they're simply parallel to the dash because the dash curves downwards as well, and that's the straightest they could mount them without them hitting the dash....

I'm honestly not all that worried, they sound excellent so far, and they don't look crooken when you're IN the car, only with the doors open.

PS: I don't know why everything's so DIIIIIRTY, better pics to come tomorrow

And the reason the kenwoods look so crazy in the doors:

They're MONSTERS! Oversized 6-3/4, actually measure 7" at the cone.

Vs:

Factory Bose. Undersized 5-1/4, measure 5.25" at the BASKET!

Wow that must sound amazing. You mentioned you still have some tweeking to do. From my own experience that could take some time, to find the sound you are lookng for . Love your head unit! I have a excelon too but not that one. I'm jelous lol. Good stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
