Got my Mechman Alt!

Well, I've been messaging Matt for a while now about getting an alternator for my car and finally decided to order one about a week ago. He was very helpful through email.

its 1600 alt rpms, i had thought that at first too. i believe you look at the 2500 alt rpm number which is avg idle speed.

and i think you have pos and neg labeled backwards in those pics to the OP

That's the speed the alternator is turning. Idle should be about 2500 or so.

Thats at alt RPM not engine RPM, usually its like 3x-4x what Engine RPM is. So that means at like 500rpm only 39 amps. I think its all vehicle and pulley dependent but that is what I have come to understand. I got one from mechman like this as well, and asked because mine didnt make peak power until like 8000rpm and my truck redlines at like 5000 lol

That is the alt rpm not vehicle rpm.It appears to be about a 4 to 1 ratio so about 125A@idle.

Haha, yeah, i do have them mixed up!!! Oops!! Pretty excited to get this thing installed.

I thought for the amps per rpm, you had to look at the pulley ratio...so I think you divide the alt rpm by the pulley ratio to give you engine rpm...
