ok so i hooked up my computer, it all works fine

but question........

I have an amp (brand new) hooked to my 2 front speakers

and so when i have the comp on at all its alot of static, which goes away if i disconnect the rcas from the amp, and isnt as bad when i set the gain all the way down

but see, if i connect

mp3 player to the amp, no static

rca that i ran through the comp, i get static

another rca to the comp (not ran through anything), i get static

so i was thinking it must be the comp outputs, and well i tried headphones to the comp, and DID NOT get any static

so wtf? lol

so your running a car pc ?

and your sound card has rca outs?

i would first turn the volume down on the pc see if the static goes away if that doesnt work double click on the volume button to bring up the volume properties and turn the mic input off that sometimes fixes hissing in pc's also while your there check the volumes on other things see where they are set

Funny funnny - have had this problem before too - a computer has a negative 12V ground - //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ground the actual computer to the car!

before you do this hook up headphones to the computer in your car and see if you hear the same noise = a good test is always to isolate the problem

so i was thinking it must be the comp outputs, and well i tried headphones to the comp, and DID NOT get any static

l
he already tried headphones to me it sounds like he is gettting feedback through the line in turning it off in the volume properties might cure it

Headphones hooked to the source won't have ground loop noise on them, there is no second component in the signal chain to cause the ground loop. Most likely you have a ground loop (differential ground potential between components causing a flow of current through the line level signal wire) between the comp and the amp. Reground the comp and the amp.

the amp isnt hooked to the headunit, i dont have one, it is hooked up to the GROUND WIRE, that would be used for headunits

ya i tried headphones, and my comp has standard 1/8 plugs like for headphones, im just using a rca to 1/8 jack cable (like ipod stereo cables)

ground the CASE to the car?

and i tried turning down the mic, cd, aux all that, nothing, even if i mute the whole sound system i get nothing, it only goes away if i unplug the rcas

well i figured this out like last week, but ya all it needed was a lil ground isolator for my rcas, fixed it up, theres still some noise, but u cant hear it unless you REALLY listen (or want to hear it)

but now im hearing noise from my subs, i tried my isolator for speakers, and no sound would come out for some reason, theres some ground wires that your suppose to connect IF there is no sound, but it didnt help

so i bought a different one, hooked it up, same thing, no sound

itll have sound if i disconnect the white lead and leave the red hooked up, but if i plug in the white it doesnt work
