It is a 2001 CL500. has the gay navi/6disc **** mercedes setup and I would like to just put a better unit in there and some other equipment. It has the Bose crap and its not horrible so i'll probably just leave those speakers and that amp in there and just use a diff head unit and a sub-stage. I can easily build the sub stage and wire that all up, but the trip piece is going to have to be replaced if i want to use a single din unit.

Has anybody worked on a car like this and what did you do?

First, Iam sorry...

Second, if you change out the HU, you will most likely(99% sure) have to delete/bypass the Bose amp.

The dash and wiring harness kits may be harder to find vs others.....

Looks scary! lol
Quick search on pac-audio and metra revealed that they don't make a dash kit for your vehicle, especially with the navi and Bose stuff and the one-piece faceplate. So yes, it is going to be a huge pain if you want to install anything.

If I were you I'd just leave it alone, those German cars are kind of hard to work on because the wiring codes are all different and I'm pretty certain that without the stock headunit hooked up your car is going to throw codes. Spend your money on some nice rims and tires and performance parts instead.

Best thing to do is see if iSimple makes a usb/aux integration kit for the car.....get a nice high-low converter.....and snatch a nice eq/line driver up....that way you will have some control......

Woah, forgot about this. yeah i figured I would just either A) Hack the woodgrain and install a double din in it (saw it done) or B) buy a dash kit. I like that dash kit twisted but my beautiful wood grain will be gone. :/

anyways.. here is a pic. I can get more if you guys are actually interested. I already did a short ram intake on it and it improved gas milage and performance marginally. It is a tank and wont every be "superultrafreakinfast" so i wont try too hard. maybe just a euro exhaust or something and ill be done with performance. I do want to throw some deep dishes on this bish though!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Love these cars, ALL of them. I am looking to get an 04 CL 55 soon. Cant afford the newer ones, hell cant afford the older ones. Lol. But they can get very fast. Of course money is important when it comes to performance, but the CL engines are no joke, especially that CL65. Haha.

Beautiful car, none-the-less. Good luck with your system. Let me know what you end up doing.
