Got a big problem plz help?

Im done building box and was trying to put in trunk today. And it wont go through the clearing. It fit if i can get it in there. The clamp to close the trunk is catching. I was thinkin the top part of the closing i could bang back with a hammer. I only need like 1/2 inch. I tried to put down seats and put in that way wont fit. Plz give any advice. I was thinkin maybe i could take the clamp off and then put box in then put it back on. I didnt see any way off doing that. Plz help out the car is 97 mustang and the specs are 14(H)x15(W)x35(L)

i didnt think about the clearin. My step dad is a welder and has a welding machine and everything and i was thinkin maybe he could weld off the clearing on the top and then if its needed then weld it back on.

x2 thats wut i was thinkin. Ill let my step dad do it. Thank god for a step dad welder. It comes in handy alot. TO be able to cut metal and put it back together
