Got a 2500d...what to do!?!

ya TC recently underwent some glitch fixages since snoops PA cones taking a poop. i had one of the last 2 paper cones (still really strong). i got to use it with the last of the 2 paper cones ever used on 4hp's. And this week hopefully they'll be sending me my new top assembly (titaunium indeed). i cant stress how amazed i was with the output....and Thilo over there at TC has been very very helpful with me through emails in the past 2 months. everything from doing special repair job ueing my old perfertly good voice coil onto a new assembly, technical advice for my setup, and just helpful in general. I'm glad TC is working out things with thier drivers tops, it was looking iffy at first but from what i've gathered and birds whispering to me, it seems they are actually trying really hard to make things back on par (and thier par is phenominal quality, awsome subs... with good cones too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) also kyle at TC had gone and ****ed around, which resulted in him haveing no say in any kinds of customer service or any contact with formal business dealings, they gave him the dunce hat and told him to sit in focking corner lol

i own a 4hp which uses the same or very very close to same motor as the 5200...and with 2500w i couldnt be happier, serious wangage. i remember snoop compared the the 18 mt to this andthe 4hp got louder and did so in abotu half the airspace //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. in my lower tuned but (though havent been meter yet (which will change after the clearwater new years eve meet), with a box @ 32Hz im doing upper 140's, possibly 150. im sure with the right box and tuning with my res frequency in the equation i can get louder, even wiht the same power......shit snoop did 156.7dB off one of these 18's with 8kW, IN A JEEP, and a fairly small box too....i can see that score happening in an F-150, but a jeep cherokee..... thats impressive. with the 2500w it still gets to full excursion and wangs harder than bruce lee.

i also got ot play around with a 3hp motor with mt parts, and the tc3000 is basicly a slightly newer 3hp motor. also wanged really hard, but it really didnt shine untill it had about 1800w ish ( at least as much as a 1501d could do with .5ohm burps before the amp started hating life). if you went the tc3000 route id recommend a lil more power.

everyone and thier moms will have L7's, though a good choic, it seems if you tune anybit above 35Hz to get hellish oud, you start to loose the SQ quickly the higher you go. I mean L7's have won awards in the SQ department, but probly not with a higher tuned ported box. i havent actually owned any L7's but i've heard a few. they do gwt loud though. i love kicker but personally id go a differant route, thats just me...

a buddy of mine has 2 12 L5's off a JL 500/1 in a prefab kicker made enclousre in a 2003 jimmy blazer....... and for L5's with only 250w a piece they sound **** good, like wow good for being what they are, in an SUV with alot of cabin space.....4 of those in the right box will sound nice, you may end up not useing all your amps potential though, anything over 500w for those i dunno... 625w each? maaaaybe

i've reallly wanted to hear a fully loaded BTL in differant enclosures....the hype is they're the shit, and seeing as how scott over there at Fi was part of team that brought us those wondrful years of the xxx's and mt's (before it all went to shit). i have no doubts the BTL has crazy amounts of potential.....i just wonder how it'd stack up against my 4hp in my given install :/

overall i'd be stuck between the tc-5200 and the BTL...either route you cant go wrong. being an owner of a TC driver, id recommend TC for you. it's definitly good shit. The BTL will ge tthe job done too. Haveing a single 18 that stomps other setups without breaking a sweat are ALWAYS fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

very insightful...thanks. the tc 5200 is my top choice, i just cant get myself to spend a grand on an 18. i dont think it would be 500 dollars better than the btl.

this is true....price is a big factor....i got my 4hp motor for around 380 in a trade, then another 220 for a new top wiht my old voice coil.......for $600 it's totally worth it, but close to a grand is ludacris if you are have what most sane people have, a BUDGET is what im refering to.....the BTL might be the better choice....

lol get the BTl and spemd the other couple hundred on a new HO alty, beef up that electrical.....

I have the money to spend on the 5200 if thats what I decide...I just wanna know that its worth 475 more than the btl. If not, then I'll go with the btl or the L7's

yea im with on the same page as alot of ppl on this one, BTL or 2 15 L7s.. id have to say the L7s tho, perfect daily power combo, and IMO you will be louder, considering the basics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Look at your wallet

Look at the specs

Decide from there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thats just my 2 cents for ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif, i hope that this was helpful
I do have to say I heard it in person before it went south and it was a really lowend kick in the pants for one sub on 2500watts:D

Space is NOT an issue. I can afford up to like 15 cubes (if totally necessary)

I'm leaning towards the BTL more and more. I'm a fan of lowend and I dont think the Kickers will have the same authority down low as the BTL.
