One more question...If I decide on the BTL (which I almost have), should I get a dual 2 and run the amp at 1 ohm, or the dual 1 and run it at 1/2 ohm.

IIRC they only do about 2700ish at .5 so i wouldn't risk it and run it at that...

i know thier output at .5 ohm maybe be alil more, but the amp get terribly inefficent at that .5 ohm, you'll be best off wiht a 1 ohm load my friend....

OK, good...I just got my 2500d today!!!! It's teh secksSs. I guess I'll just run it at 1 ohm to a dual 2 btl.

Yea, two AQ 15'' HD3's would be Banging. If you run @ 0.5ohms you could have around 1500w to each HD3.

But in those options, 2 15" L7's may be the loudest. L7's are LOUD.

Finally, on page 3 we get some sort of idea what you are building here. The whole time I read this thread, seeing choices between serious SPL subs like BTL's and solo-x's to more SQ(L) oriented drivers like the Mags, I was really confused what you were building this for. Now Im guessing you are building a DD SQL system, but using a serious SPL sub. Ive not heard a BTL yet, but if its anything like an MT (and it is, very much) it wont sound that great. Especially if you tune the box to really get loud. And if you dont tune it for raw SPL, I dont see the point of using an SPL sub.

Are you gonna buy a BTL and tune the box low, or are you gonna tune it for what the BTL is meant for (SPL)? If you tune for SPL, forget about the low end or SQ. If you tune it low for SQL, you really should be looking at different subs imo (like the Mags, but ones with an impedance option you can work with).

Everyone I've ever heard of that runs a btl says it gets low and loud with better sq than an mt. Fi recommends a 30-35 hz tuning for daily driving so I thought I'd go with about 32. I know it wont be a sq champ but it should be bareable.

Would that 1 BTL get that much louder than if you were going with 2 15" Q's? Im in a similar position as you, I have an Orion 2500d and I was looking for a set up to get loud with lots of lows, and sound descent too.

I was also considering 2 15" or 18" Q's. How would they stack up against a btl in spl? Pretty sure they'll sound better.

just curious.... what makes you say the 15L7's will lack in the lows? hell, except for my last box, it was **** near impossible to make them peak in the high 40's.

they have some disgusting lowend, completely different beast than the 12's and 10's.
