got $6-8k, what car to buy

except the older ones? Have you ever worked on one? Piece of cake.

Get a 91 318 and then just borrow an s52 engine while you are at it!
oh cool a 318,

so you basically got a dewoo with a BMW logo on it

BOTTOM OF THE BUCKET TURD!

glad you like it

lol i like the way people are just recommending cars they own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
That's usually what happens when people give a very vague description as to what they want //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Are you kidding me? e30 318is' had about the same comfort standards as the 325is' with a nice more modern m42 engine. I can't see your comparison to a dewoo, mainly because "dewoo" isn't even a car manufacturer.

An e30 318is in my opinion is still more fun to drive than most cars that are made today. Perhaps not faster or having better handling but it never fails to give me a smile. I drive an e30 325i and the m42 does well in keeping up.

For 8k you can pick up a pimp 2000-2003 Accord, either the 4cyl or the 6cyl would get you between 20-30 mpg. And they look nice

Hyundais are pieces of junk, I wouldn't own anything Korean made unless it came with a huge warranty...with that being said Suzuki Forenzas have 7 year 100k mile warranty available with them and you can get them for around 10k brand new.

I don't really know if people jack up the prices of cars in vegas though...I know they overprice everything else
is that why the hyundai elantra beat out the civic, corolla, prius, mazda3, imprexa and focus as far as reliability goes by consumer reports? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You can go by consumer reports....and thats fine as long as they RUN.

But I've seen too many friends that own Hyundais (sante fes, elantras, sonatas) have to get transmissions replaced REPEATEDLY, plus the sonata has had 3 motors put in it. And they won't take it back under the lemon law because they say its a COMMON THING in those vehicles..

So...as far as the consumer reports go....they must not have driven one for a couple of years to give it time to break.

E30 325's are fun to drive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif they feel really solid and heavy, it's nice. Mine is dead now, and I will probably never buy a BMW again unless I have the money for a "good" one, or better words would be.. " well taken care of"

and my girls mom has an elantra....with no problems whatsoever. so i guess i can go by consumer reports, or i can go by what i see first had as well.

btw, the consumer reports rating was based on small, HIGH MILEAGE cars. we're not talking brand new cars here.

people also talk shit about ford, but ive yet to experience a problem with my explorer with 181k

yeah, thats the kicker, you need to find a good specimen. Most people I know that have owned 02's or e30's regret letting them go, not for commuter cars but for at least fun weekend cars.

You should be able to find a nice 1st generation Lancer EVO in that price range...That would be a fun car ...to drive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
For 6-8 k??? no way.
