we get this really open ended project, anything to do with physics in the real world, we just do some experience and talk about how what we did could be importanat/useful...

i have to design a rollercoaster, with a minimum of 5 corners, 2 loops and 3 hills, calculate the accelleration, decelleration, force needed to get roller coaster up hill, cooefficient of friction, G-forces all around, (ex: bottom of hills, tops of hills, corners) exact metric demensions, and then write a 7 page analysis on it.

it's an art to say alot in so few words... I had a macroeconomics teacher that made us summarize 2-3 chapters of his book at a time in 2-4 pages double spaced... it took work...

haha. I love physics, except my teacher sucks at teaching it/controlling the class.

Soooo..

I just play DS. And pay attention everytime I hear ohm. haha

today we learned how to count the resistance in series and parallel circuits, review from last year. Also how to find current, voltage, and power from a certain volt battery that sees a certain resistance

Only we just do butt loads of hypothetical problems.

For extracredit i designed a catapult capeable of launching a human being throug h a feild goal when we where covering motion in 2 dimentions. Much like the one in the poweraid commercial.

Monitary cost wasnt what kept us from tyring it. After calulating the acceleration needed in the given space alloted (able to fit on a flatbed trailor) and the needed velocity to even get to clear the post from the 20yrd line would rival G forces of fighter get piolots and we would have no pressure suits to keep us concious. Alas we (me and a few others) are going to have to do it without supervision or school concent. Look out for one of us dieing in the news. lmao.

all you have to do is design a chamber that you can throw someone in, and make up for the weight change in your calculations.

oh.. and make the chamber indestructable, with a lot of padding for that sudden stop. whiplash might hurt. haha

Great timing i am doin the sound section in my physics class as we speak. I agree and think you should include the freqeuncy, wave lenght, explanation of how the sine wave graph of sound is actually a representation of air being pressed together in a longitudinal wave.you can talk about the nodes and anitnodes of the wave. How temperature and medium affect sounds waves. The doppler affect(why sirens sound higher pitched as they approache you.) Sound intensity, timbre, fundamental frequency, pitch, resonance, ultrasonic and infrasonic sound, human hearin range, and human threshhold of pain. Any specific questions and i will glady answer i have also various equations you might like to have.
