Good stock to invest in?

toyota is taking over you could invest in them. they did better than ford and chevy for the past few quarters

Yes they are.. however auto oligopy's tend to have one inherent flaw.. When they get powerful...

Example, GM used to KING of the HILL, when they peaked they entered into a Contract with the UNITED AUTO WORKERS and now they are TRAPPED paying for the workers HEALTHCARE benefits.

Which is, I am sure why, JMAC said don't invest in GM.. Only a Chapter 11 could/will break away that generous coverage of 1.1 million people...

GM = BAD!

Check out "ppd" and look at the history trust me on this one...
All the history says about it is that the stock went up by about a good 15 points or so after they won some lawsuits in the 4th quarter of last year. Since then, they have fluctuated maybe a few points month-to-month without anything really looming on the horizon except some fraud trials in the next two months. A recent audit has been conducted without finding any major problems, but they aren't turning a profit as fast as they could. They might see another huge jump in stock price in the future, but I wouldn't bank on it being as high as the last one.

One of my favorite stocks is Moody Corp (MCO) which is a quite good company but they don't always realize their maximum profit in a period of less than a fiscal quarter.

AIG or any other insurance company currently being investigated. once they start being investingated, shareholders get scared and sell super-fast and shares are dirt cheap. but the thing is, the company and its executives never get brougth to trial, the entire thing blows over, and things return to normal.

Are you allowed to daytrade for the class, or would the professor not trust you?

Whatever you do, look at the companys most recent 10-K or Q, and especially read the MD&A. Ratios can also be very misleading depending on the accounting techniques used, do some trend and cross-sectional analysis of the ratios you're interested in to get a better picture of them.

We can buy a stock today,but we cant sell it until tommorow..we cant buy a stock and sell it the same day... it sucks.
Yeah, tell me about it, last time I saw someone buy stocks they sunk like a boat made out of HandiWipes. I would rather lose my money the good 'ol fashioned way by getting beat up at 3AM in some dark alley. At least I would have a good story to tell my kids (If I lived) and maybe even find a good way to get urine stains out of pants.

I buy stock, I dont know what all stock I buy but I buy quite abit. I have all of mine deversified in different groups of stock where as I buy into those groups. Plus I also buy SBC stock. All of the stock I buy gets matched %80 so even if it goes down I make money.

I would look at GE, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), and 3M (MMM) for defensive stocks. Look toward Genentech (DNA), Oracle (ORCL), and Microsoft (MSFT) for aggressive assets. My advice with only one stock to choose would be GE, it's probably the only company that everyone should have in their portfolio.

Wowzers. Glad to see another person agree with me. I recently invested quite a bit of money into Sirius. I think it was around $3.50/share and right before they signed Howard Stern to a deal. Other good news, recently- they signed Martha Stewart to her own deal.

I will take my chances at $3.50/share and it should skyrocket when Stern goes on air (i think in 2006).

If not stocks, I recently invested even MORE money into Vanguard 500. This is diffently less risky!
