good sq sub

I heard those IDMax things were good from ppl on the forum. I personally like infinity, it's quite popular for sq, though a little overpriced. Worth it in my opinion

i was thinking of 2 x 10" type R's or 1 x 12" or maybe not sure if i can get money together 1 x 15" sub but i was wondering if the type R's are a good sq sub or should i save money and get type S's or a totaly different make and brand

help need i want to spent no more the $900 us
the 10" or 12" inch type R's will sound nice in the right setup with any combination of subs. . .

but if your going sound quality you may want to stand clear of the 15.

are you referring to the type r's?

what is their rms rating and impedence?

Type R's are mainly for sq, though they hit well. So they don't have the wrms of the bigger spl subs. I believe their rms is around 300 or 350, like the infinity perfects. I'm sure you can get them in svc 4 ohm, or dual 2ohm.

so 2 4ohm svc in parallel would be a 2ohm load, right?

get a jbl 600.1 or maybe a jl 500/1, depending on how much u want to spend and you should be set

dang right tehre blackgeltabs...

the only reason you may not be able to get stupendous SQ from a 15 is in teh higher bass freq's taht tehy are not designed to handle...

as the frequencies get higher, some of them can be too slow to react and recreate those upper subbass frequencies...

get some nice midbass's, x-over your 15 pretty low, like 60 - 50 hertz and hold on to your hat...

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too
