GOOD...pre-built sub boxes. (info/feeler thread)

As most agree the words GOOD and PRE-BUILT do not usually go together.

If you've had any dealings with pre-built boxes (average 2-12, 2-10, etc) currently offered on the market, you know that these boxes are usually under sized, tuned very high, and many times built from 5/8" MDF.

I build ALOT of custom boxes here at the shop, but many times, I just can't keep up with orders and build times stack up. Customers DON'T WANT TO WAIT for a custom box when I have 10-15 custom boxes on build-order and can't get to their build for a few days/weeks. They want their subs/install NOW! They don't care if their box is a pre-built or not, the customer just wants good bass for their money!!! I used to keep a few generic prebuilt boxes on hand (for the 'gotta have it now guy'), but I hated to send good subs out the door in a box that I KNEW was sub-par.

I know that many shops will punch out generic boxes...2-12, 2-10, etc. But, if I did the same thing, that would still put me on the table saw and router for hours on end!!!! Hours that I just don't have. And in the long run, wouldn't those boxes technically be PRE-BUILT???

So, in the past few months I have been working with a major pre-built box manufacturer to create a line of GOOD pre-built boxes. Not the cheap, high tuned, undersized crap that is out there now, but rather a basic line that is flexible for many subs and vehicles.

For now we are only offering these boxes in-shop here at Desiard St. Pawn & Car Audio.

Here is some info on 2 of our current 'prebuilt' designs. USA Built, all 3/4" MDF and they have 3/4"x3" bracing between the subs.

DSP-2-12

4cuft (assuming 0.2cuft sub displacement)

15.75sq/cuft port @ 36hz

36"x20"x15.5"

DSP-2-10

3cuft (assuming 0.15cuft sub displacement)

15sq/cuft port @36hz

30"x20"x13.5"

Both are only $150.

Pics coming soon.

This is only the first run of the DSP (Desiard St. Pawn) pre-built box line.

More designs are coming.

So...what do yall think about starting a new "GOOD PREBUILT" box line?

Win? Lose? Draw????

Any feedback is welcome.

definitely a good option for your average person looking for some bass, and as an installer you won't feel bad knowing they walked out with a decent box
