good ole milne at it again...

So which parts did you disagree with? I only browsed through quickly but what I was reading seemed to be pretty accurate to me.

I did notice he doesn't know the difference between "effect" and "affect".

i will be the first to admit- im not the most knowledgable person about how a speaker is built, etc., i just find stuff like this funny-

"3. Invert Mount Capable. Easily mind you." i havent seen many speakers that arent capable of being inverted. there is a few other things, just dont feel like reading it again...

That response was prompted by previous concerns people had with the new mounting design that they are using on that sub. A lot of the comparisons have been to the W7, which is not particularly easy to mount inverted, which is why it's a valid point.

I think you might be a little nit-picky unnecessarily because it's Ben Milne. I didn't find any factual information that was worth arguing with and, relatively speaking, that was some of the least markineering I have heard from Mr. Milne in quite some time.

What crap? A bit long winded of an explanation I suppose, but I fail to see where the "crap" comes in.

Its an underhung driver with a rather unnecessarily large amount of nonlinear suspension travel, which is certainly unusual for an underhung design, but I doubt that coil alignment will be an issue given the short length of the coil and former and the two spiders. Should have pretty low distortion with the coil in the gap. Low inductance (copper sleeves are ftw), low Cms distortion given that Xsus is going to be dramatically higher than Xmag, and since it's an underhung design, you won't have ANY BL loss until the coil begins to leave the gap.

It's certainly not an earth shattering product, but it looks to be a fairly well thought out and implemented underhung design.

The only area that I really disagreed with was his discussion of non-linear suspension travel. Personally, I don't care if Xsus is larger than or equal to Xmag. Once it's no longer linear, it's no longer linear and my concern at that point becomes limiting excursion via the suspension to prevent bottoming out. If he has sufficient basket clearance, then I suppose it's not a big deal, but that's not a huge concern in my book.

Well, having Xsus be higher than Xmag is actually VERY good from a distortion perspective, as then the only factors really influencing distortion are Xmag and Le throughout the driver's linear range. Since BL distortion is going to be virtually nil until the coil starts leaving the gap, that just leaves Le, and with good implementation of copper sleeves, you can make Le very linear as well, giving you a very low distortion driver. Clearance is a non issue on this basket, so suspension limiting near xmag isn't necessary to prevent bottoming the driver out.

honestly. the 15A's had problems. there were also problems with ED back then.

ive had posative expierences with the company in the last few years... like when they moved away from ID to wherever their stuff is built now. but companies move on to things that will benifit them, thier contract with id was prolly up. oh well, i think that its only going to get better from ed.

id like to see this thing in action. *shrug*

your typical "lets hate Milne and all of eD without reason, based on OTHER PEOPLE's past experiences" thread... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I honestly think that was a *rather long winded* thorough and informative post about a new product they are offering. I totaly agree with the post that was just made about the NinE.5 and this new Av.2 being great new products offered.

The eD of today is leaps and bounds better than the eD everyone is asshurt over. Ben, and his entire company have turned things around emensely from back when they had some issues. He even addresses one of their major problematic products from back in the day, explained what was wrong with the driver that made it do what it did, and proceeded to tell how this one differs from it.

I realy think people need to look into what eD has to offer right now as far as product performance, quality, pricing, and customer service. And forget about what they had years ago. They have moved on and "grown up" as a company so to speak, I realy think it's time for everyone else to follow suit.

Yea, that drives me insane about them. I can't handle a company having you're and your misused on their website. Also, the forms of "there" are butchered on the website and there is no excuse for any company to have that shit on their website. This is my reason to hate eD... haha..

well then you are moronic.

because somone cant spell perfectly is irrelevant. sure, it does not look as professional, but its not a reason to hate an entire company.

i know you said that with sarcasm (at least i hope) but its still a ignorant comment.

Yes, it was sarcastic... to a point. A company should NEVER have such common and 2nd grade grammar errors on their PROFESSIONAL site. Period. I don't give a **** about Ben not knowing 2nd grade grammar and I don't care about how terrible his posts are. I'm not worried about this stuff on their forums but it is really sad to see it on their website. Don't people proof read stuff before letting the website go public? Again, I'm not talking about forum posts here.

are you retarded? ive owned 2 13ov2's, and 4 19ov2's.... was not happy with any of them....
