i was in prison for 6 years.......it's waaaaay better out here, no matter what.

stop fvcking crying. unemployment is way under 10%. 50% of that 10% are still on unemployment to get another 6 months of vacation. people lose jobs in any economy. this economy has affected the rich far more than the poor. we live in the whiniest, crybaby society in history.
You think there is nothing wrong with laying off someone who has worked for your company for 25 years without a blemish on their record? I did not start this thread so people could feel sorry for me or to send me money, I started it because my dad is going to need to find a job to support his family. I'm paying to put myself through college, so there's not much I can really do besides help him find a job.

To be honest, I don't care what the unemployment rate is. Is unemployment rate indicative of job availability and a prosperous economy? Obviously it is not, as evidenced by the current economic state. I'd venture to guess the unemployment numbers have not shifted because people are taking the best job that they can get to feed their family.

What do you do, by the way?

Repo man.
Does he have any felonies?
No felonies that I am aware of. He might have one from his early 20's when one of his buddies brought home a few alligators and left them on the porch outside. He only had to pay a fine though, lol.

You are in that business right? PM me with any info you have about it. I'm sure he's willing to do anything he can started at quick, other then scrubbing toilets or washing dishes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yeah, it is truly ludicrous you can lose a job you've had for the past 25 years when you haven't missed a day in 10 years. **** this economy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
look, if he couldnt solidify himself a standing in the company within a 25 year time frame, he wasn't worth a shit anyway. He got what he deserved.

psychologist. lotta people going nuts about losing their jobs.
there are often plenty of jobs in the psych/soc. field. however if you want a decent one you need a doctorate or atleast a masters (some states wont let you have private practice without a doctorate) if you have aspirations besides social work.

A person paid to basically legally steal cars cannot have a record?
Well maybe not because I heard a lot of them carry guns.
Not in Florida. Florida is one of the strictest states for repossession. You can't have any felonies, you need to be sponsored by a Recovery Agent for two years to get your Class "E" Recovery License. After your two year sponsorship is over, you cannot open an agency within 50 miles of the agency that sponsored you.

I currently have my "EE" Intern License.

Also, in Florida, you cannot carry a concealed weapon on the debtor's property, even if you have a concealed permit. You can have it with you, but you physically use it or carry it on the debtor's property.

You must obtain a private investigator's license, then get a "Class G" license (which is what cops carry) to legally carry a concealed weapon on the debtor's property.

It's a lot of shit.

If people can't get their Starbucks or their health care payed for they sure do whine.
Anyway, from my perspective two things. First off, high unemployment (as in people on government handouts) just means that companies are cutting the fat. What I mean is they are reducing the flubber and some people don't want to work. There are always jobs, but they might not be jobs you want to do. If it came down to cleaning bathrooms for a living or taking government money I would be the first one in line with my tooth brush asking for an application. Second, high unemployment (as in good people currently without a job but activly seeking) means that there are more good employees for me to hire and exploit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Agreed. And if you pitch to work for less to secure employment, it's pretty easy to get a job cleaning restrooms. When I was in college, and my PT job cut back on hours, I was forced to get another...cleaning restrooms at a truck stop third shift.

I did watch a lot of TNT, chat with truckers, and met plenty of hookers. All in all, it wasn't a bad gig.

It seems to be like the fellow had 25 years of opportunity to prepare. During that time, he could have went to school, learned a new trade, saved money, networked with friends.

People don't think ahead.

smartest post in whole thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

if you're good at what you do, you shouldn't have to worry about getting laid off, attendance, or record should have no bearing on that.

you can still be a lazy pos at work, show up everyday, and not get in trouble.

there's more to this story then the OP is sharing.
