Good Heavy Metal?

Here are some good suggestions for metal that sounds good on a higher end system. No particular order:

Symphony X (Paradise Lost -- I promise you WILL NOT regret it)

Dimmu Borgir (In Sorte Diaboli)

Children of Bodom (Are You Dead Yet?)

Lacuna Coil (KarmaKode)

Judas Priest (Remasters of "Painkiller" (

Iced Earth

Hammerfall

Pantera

Nightwish

Dethklok

Nightwish

Megadeth (There are remasters of the older albums, WORTH IT)

Throwdown

Edguy

Nevermore

That's a good start.

love throwdown
Yeah. The "Venom" (I think that's the name) album sounds pretty good in my truck. A bit too Pantera-y, but I love Pantera too, so... This album reminds me of Vulgar Display of Power. Really makes me want to go kick the crap out of somebody. I'm still trying to find "Haymaker." Nobody carries it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I forgot about Iced Earth. They're pretty good as well.

Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, and Children of Bodom are good if you feel like listening to someone scream. And alot of of Amon and Dimmu have some serious bass. Pursuit of Vikings drops lowwwwwwwww.

Megadeath is badass too. The main riff for Angry Again is killer.

I'm not real big on screaming, myself. But Dimmu (newer stuff) and Children (along with Dethklok actually, and some others) are really good. One thing I like is that they are not really "screaming." It's a vocal styling and you can ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THEM. Also, there is vocal control (changes in pitch) which means they are actually SINGING. Not just growling or screeching like so many other bands. A lot of people I know are suprised when I say (insert metal band) sucks. They say, "Well you like so-and-so." There is a fine line and you need a discerning and trained ear.

As far as Megadeth, I tend to perfer the older stuff. Although the last couple of albums were pretty cool (I call them Megalife now, since Dave got religion) You gotta get "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?", "Countdown to Extinction," "Rust in Peace," and "Youthinasia." I personally like "Countdown..." but "Youthinasia" seems to rock out better on my system. But from a guitarists standpoint, first love is the best. "Rust in Peace."

Its soo good you had to list it twice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I have only heard one of their songs and I love it, great stuff and seems to cover the entire spectrum as well, on that note even though it is 10pm I think I am gonna go and rip my truck apart to see if I can get my door speakers installed lol.

Another group that in my opinion I would consider tame compared to many of these but still pretty good to listen to would be Freedom Call

Actually, once for the original singer (Tarja Turunen) and again for the new singer (Anette Olzon)

...not really. I just wasn't paying attention. But I think I perfer the older (Tarja) stuff. The newest album kicks ***, too, though. I'll be seeing them live when they come to NOLA in September. I want to see if the new chick can belt out some of those older songs.

WOWOWOW> You guys listed some REALLLY shit bands. Mind you the OP likes some terrible bands as well.

Try Vader, Cryptopsy(up to whisper supremacy), Nasum, Black Dahlia Murder, Hate Eternal, Vornagar, Amon Amarth, The Crown, Dimmu Borgir, Exhumed

A few people have mentioned some good bands, but A LOT of the bands are terrible.

Thanks for you're expert opinion. Don't know what I'd do with out you. I'll go throw all my CD's out right now and make sure everything is up to your standards right away.

Naw I was thinking more Mudvayne, Stone Sour and All That remains when I said that. Bands you have a chance of hearing on regular radio lol. And Yes, Yes they do rule //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Gonna go hop in the truck and listen to them on the way home from work on this beautiful friday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
