Is this a good deal ? I have a chance to buy this headunit for $150.

Its an old 7909 cd player that has been modified by alpine themselves (higher preouts 7v, better laser) Looks like its in decent shape and just needs a lil cleaning on the front panel.

it's a classic but with nowadays headunits your gonna spend even more on processing and stuff after that 150.

Is this a joke? Last I checked, a modded (and mint) 7909 was worth about a grand. Maybe times have changed. Id buy it just to add to my collection if nothing else.

If it still works buy it before they realize their mistake.

At the very least you wont ever lose money should you decide later to resell it.

oh, if I buy it, is there a good safe way to clean the front panel and remove the light scratches on the display ?

Craigslist purchase? A moistened cloth should take care of most grime on the front panel. For scratches I dunno, you would alsmot need to take it apart and try to polish the plastic display panel. Id just not worry about the scratches. Its a classic h/u, nobody expects it to look bnib.
