good cap?

Your dont need a cap. I responded to you in another thread, you said you need to upgrade your electrical, your right! Get the biggest alt you can get, and same with batt, if your going to be running 2 1000/1 which cost around $1500, spend $500 on an alt and batt and forget the cap. Do the big three and you will be all set.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

IMO caps have no real use except telling you what your voltage is at.
i'm starting to agree with you i haven't noticed much of a difference in any cap i have installed in systems

but extra batteries will help right? i've had some people tell me they only add playing time when the engine is off, i've also heard that they add ampage output...

what is the best way to power a system sufficiently besides just a big alt cause the biggest one i can find for my car without major alterations is 200

so what exactly does adding batts do? add amps? i know i have to have an isolator also do i have to have all same batts in the car, i've heard differences in batts cause one to disscharge the other, or does an isolator keep this from happening?

yeah i don't even want the caps on my system i really think they draw more power than they add
you are starting to come around. maybe its time for a new sig.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

an isloator make it possible for you alt to charge each batt independantly.

best bet is to just add a second bat, and get a good h/o alternator.

make sure you wire them in parallel.(+ to +, - to -).

adding a second batt this way will double your amperage if both batts are identical(they should be). makes it better for listening to the stereo when the car is off for one plus.

so are you saying i don't need an isolator? i had planned on getting a 200 amp alt(biggest i can fit) and a yellow top for the car (including high/mid amp and HU) and then doing the 1000/1 each on their own yellow top with isolator, for a total of 3 yellow tops...

is this over-kill? maby just get red tops? or just 2 yellowtops?

I would start with 1 yellow top and the alt. Add another batt if needed, I doubt you will, unless you plan on going deaf sooner than later. If you play your stereo without the car running, you need all the batt you can fit.

if you wire them in parallel than no you dont need an isolator. your alt will charge both at the same time.(it will see them as 1 batt)

you still may run into problems playing your system for extended periods if you plan on running what i remember. 2x jl1000/1, and other amp i dont remember with that 200 amp alt. just those 2 amps alone(jl1000/1) i would think pull at least 200 amps when pushed. you are now draining your batt(s).

for as much as you want to run you will need to look harder for a higher output alt. imo.

might have to go custom. search the interwebz for custom alts. seeing how you have lots to spend on jl, you should be able to afford the $500 or + bucks to get an alt to suit you.

edit i changed my sig for the time being.
