For a truck, you want it mounted high on the tailgate. If you mount around the license plate, in the recess in the bumper, it cutss off your field of view. Mounted on tailgate, a 170 degree will give you wide view and let you see far behind you, as well as your hitch .
The only tailgate camera ou there is Advent (audiovox) Cam500. I tried some cheap ones, then I bought this for $90. Sonic is the only place that has the remaining ones, advent quit making it.
Its night and day better than cheap ones. Sharp, clear picture. Sensitive to practically see in dark too. I tried some cheap ones and was so dissapointed I ponied up for this one. Heavy solid aluminum housing, powdercoated finish.
