Good Amp thats 3 Ohm Stable

Hey guys, I'm very new here, been browsing about a week now. People are very helpful. Anyways if anyone's seen my Thread in Subwoofers. I recently got a Great X-mas present from a friend at work. He GAVE me, yes Gave me two of the JL Audio 12w6 subs. the first version. They are in great condition and I'm exited to throw them in my truck. All my stuff was stolen. I've since got an alarm. and replaced all the 4 door speakers with 6.5's

So My question for everyone Please, is I am looking for a Amp that will push one, and possibly both of the 12w6 subs I just got. I'll probably only throw one in my truck, and the other in my boat or something. But I want an amp with a little extra for the future if I want to upgrade. The JL Audio 12w6 subs are 300w RMS Subs but they are 6 ohms. So I need a STABLE 3 ohm Amp.. and preferably under $220 or so. Give or take.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!

All amps that are 2 ohm stable are 3 ohm stable to. Just make sure you get a good amp that puts out 600 RMS at 2 ohms and you will fine to power one sub and if you want to power both get a amp that is 1 ohm stabe. I would get a amp thats CEA rated.

So your saying get a 600w RMS at 2 ohm's stable just for one... why double? is that so I could do 2 if I want, or is that only for one.

Hey Guys, I got an amp today. I was just checking to see what everyone thought. and if it will work for me. It was a great deal so I had to snag it. I have a friend at Fry's Electronics. and I didn't want to wait for shipping.

I got the Polk Audio PA600.1 Monoblock Amp. I got an amazing deal on this baby.

Thats the price at Crutchfield. and it's close to that at most places also. Some it's $319.99 but thats about the cheapest.

Anyways I have a friend at fry's elec, and he managed to pull some sort of deal. and I got that same amp. the PA600.1 amp for $198.00 with a 2 yr warranty for $15 dollars. pretty amazing deal.

# 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

# 600 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm (one-ohm stable)

Thats good enough to push my SINGLE JL Audio 12w6 sub I'm assuming right. that should be perfect as it is 400RMS x1 at 2ohm.s and 600RMS at 1 ohm if I ever upgrade later to something like my old T1.

What does everyone think? Will that push it pretty well. Polk has good speakers, but how are there amps.

Both on it at 1.5 huh. yea I was thinking something like that. but I'm just going to run a single sub, and the other one is going into a Home Use, or in my El Camino.. I think the El Camino needs it. since it has polk 6x9's and 5's up front.. the sub will balance the Classic Junker car out in the sound area. thats the plan I think. I might add the second one later. not sure though.

Now I need to decide on the box. Sealed or Ported.

If you want SQ go with a sealed box, if you want deep bass go with a ported box.

Well the 12w6's already have some pretty good SQ. so overall it would probably be better with a Ported box right. or is that just user Choice. Ported for more bump, and Sealed for better sound.

Have you ever looked at the passband diffrences between a ported box and a sealed box ? Sorry I take the deep bass thing back, I meant that a ported box will be louder in the area of what the box is ported to compaired to a sealed box but a ported box will distort more below the F3 and a sealed box does'nt drop as fast at the F3 when looking at the passband wave.

Those subs are REALLY over priced.
