Goliath vs 2 2500Ds

Alright looking at either a pair of an amp for my next setup. Been looking at either getting a Hifonics Goliath or 2 Orion 2500Ds.

Just wondering which would be my better route. Or Should I try and go for more wattage? Right now the plans are 4 18" SXs. I currently have 1 on 1000watts and its not bad.

Is 5000 enough for 4 18" SXs in Street 3 MECA? The record in my state is 153. I'm hoping for about 25 cubes or so.

Should I opt for more watts instead of just giving each sub 1250? Let me know ya'lls thoughts.

You DO know that MECA classes are rated by cone area AND fusing...

Which...with both of what you have...are fucked.

I know what I can use. I know MECA rules. For burping purposes an 80 amp fuse should be enough. And with 4 18s that puts me in S3. I know what class I would be in.

I dunno as much as the rest of the guys here but I think I would go with the 2 orions( I am actully lookin to get read of my 2500 to get a Goliaths) cause I think they have more potential to make more power and reach a lower ohm,that and i think they are more efficient

well the 2 Orions I think are gona be more than that one Goliath so that is one main reason for thinking about that. There is a guy on here wanting to get rid of his 2 2500Ds for $600 shipped so I may do that. Just depends. I just want to make sure that 5K watts is enough for the SXs.

is that going by the new fuse ratings? b/c according to my calculations you can only run 20a of fuse w/ 4 18's and be in s3 so id try again...

yes that is by the new 2006 fuse ratings. Been checked by 3 different members and all place me in S3 with a rating of around 1850.

you better jump on that!...for the price of the goliath, i would go with 2 2500d's...you get like 2000 more watts for less than $200 if you buy new....save even more and get the 2 for $600 shipped.

the goliath is 5000x1 @ 1 ohm. The 2500Ds would put 2500x1 @ 1 Ohm and I would probably run 1 amp per 2 subs if I went that route.
