Going to buy subwoofer off someone...

I'm looking through Craigs List to see if I can get a lucky hit on cheap subwoofer for a great condition. And I found one.

But I'm kinda nervous meeting the dude in person to pick it up, but how do I know if the subwoofer is actually in working condition to prevent from scam happening?

So, if I was to test the subwoofer to see if it is actually a working subwoofer, could I hook them to my only and current amp, AQ 4x90?

Or have anyone had a bad experience from picking up a stranger nearby?

No reason to take it out... Just put a dmm on the speaker wires coming out. It should read 1 or 4 ohms if it is a dual 2 or 2 or 8 if it is a dual 4... Or use a 9 volt battery; put one side of the speaker wire to the + of the battery and the other to the negative... The woofer should push out and stay, or **** in and stay, and when you switch the wires on the battery the opposite should happen. Best case is that he could still have it hooked up.

I have gotten some really good deals off of Craigslist. Just 2 weeks ago I got a minty HX2 12 for $10. It had one tiny tear in the surround and it was broken in, but it sounds good and for $10 you can't beat it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif
