Going green

its not the rest of the countries fault you live in a convection zone*****

just playing, Ive been there, it does ****
people dont seem to understand it though. they live in a clean area, and think that everywhere is just like what they see at home in kentucky, or whatever. hell, why do you think California has the most stringent emissions laws in the US?

cause we ****ed up in the 70's lol

CA has had different emissions laws since the 60s.
true, but they really didnt do much. only somewhat recently did they ramp the hell out of the laws.

in fact, they had already started getting ideas on controlling smog and air pollution in the mid 40's

you should do some research on smog alerts in L.A. maybe youd start to think otherwise. sorry but burning eyes and lungs due to smog are not my idea of fun.
those "hippies" are the reason L.A. people can actually go outside without having to worry about the next smog alert, telling people to run indoors.

do they go too far now a days? yes, IMO. i love performance cars, and they are taking that away. there has to a balance. but if you think we should go back to the days of no regulations...your ****ing nuts.
The real electric powered cars dont have ANY lack of performance.

Since there's no power curve, it has full power all the time. Even the current early models are laying down 3.2 sec 0-60 times.

edit: Also, we have more performance oriented cars today, then we did in the late 60s & early 70's.

i didnt say we dont have performance orientated cars, im just saying that all the environmentalists are working their tails off trying to take that away. trying to lock us out of even playing with the cars and tuning them.

electric cars are all good. in fact i think its awesome to make them and offset the emissions produced by gas vehicles but it still not a car i would drive.

there is something about the sound of big v8 that you cant get from an electric car. that rubble of the exhaust. the sound of a super charger/turbo whatever your choice maybe.

all im saying is that we are at a good point right now IMO. the cars are fast, and are somewhat easy to make faster. the styling is pretty good too. i think we should stop here for a while. this is the trade off i was talking about. a bit restrictive on the performance end, but its worth it to reduce emissions like we are at today.

hope that makes sense, on what i mean.

I know, I wasnt trying to put words in your mouth. Im just saying things are in that direction and will most likely continue to go that way. The environmentalist, need to focus their attention on energy consumption right now IMO.

It wont offset it though, the majority of electricity being produced is done so by burning fuel. Be it coal, oil, or gas. Even if they clean up all the cars on the road, and leave a majority elec based, that energy is still coming from a polluting fuel source. So wth is the difference? They need to improve solar, and go from there.

If the daily driver elec car could run sub 5sec 0-60 times and didnt look like shit, id wouldnt mind owning one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Agree'd. Love all those sounds & id still keep one of two of those around. In the long run they'll probably phase out most all daily driver cars from being gas powered, however keeping the 'special' ones out there. The #'s will be far fewer, and with that many less gas powered cars on the road the price will also drop for gas. Im sure they'll just leave a tax of some sort on those cars for those who choose to drive them.

True.

Id love to one day see LA without driving into that wall of crap. I still remember all those smog alerts back in the day.

hmm, your right. didnt really think of how the electricity would come around for those electric cars.
