Going from JL 1000/v2 to something else, will my lights dim now?

I've heard a lot of opinions that the reason my lights don't dim off of my 1000/1v2 is that its such an efficient amp. Any salt to this? If I sell it and buy another amp thats 1000 watts, will I suddenly start dimming and stuff? (still a decent amp brand of course, like audioque)

This is the scenario: I'm trying to get up to around 2000rms. I'm on the fence about paying for a second 1000/v2 considering that they are 637 bucks, and i could easily sell my current one and not only get lets say an audioque 2200d , but along with that, have money left over.

But I'm worried that it wouldn't be as good as two jl 1000/1v2's.

I agree with rc10mike on this one because you will be hard pressed to find another Class D amp that will give you 1,000 watts RMS between 1.5 and 4 ohms!

Also, I highly doubt that you gain much more than 10 to 15% in efficiency by switching to another amp! Don't get me wrong, some are more efficient whereas others are way worse.

How is your electrical system? Do you have a high output alternator and/or a better than stock battery? Moving up to 2000 watts RMS will increase your current draw at max volume during the musical peaks.

Yeah I gotcha. Refer to my last post I just did to see what I'm having a tough time deciding on. I think I posted it right as you replied :p

Wucha think guys - keep the JL and get another one, or sell and roll for a Audioque2200d?
It all depends on your electrical system! Some stock electrical systems "can" handle 1,000 watts RMS just fine. Most stock electrical system WILL NOT handle 2,000 watts RMS!

IMHO, you are taking a step down in quality by ditching JL Audio to go with Audio Que. On the other hand, you can probably sell that 1000/1 and get enough money to purchase the Audio Que 2200d since they cost $389 new.

Hah yeah. I guess it all comes down to how much money you have.

My opinion:

I would sell the JL and get something else, since I don't like paying a huge premium for a shiny brand name--even if it is a great amp. You can get a more powerful amp, and with the extra money, upgrade your electrical system so that you are actually getting that power.

My cousin swapped his 1000/1v1 for a sound magus class d 1500 rms amp. His lights stopped dimming and his amp stopped cutting off. He was just running the big 3 in 0 gauge and a regular battery.
