I was helping my friend install his new pioneer head unit into his 2001 GMC Jimmy with the bose system and factory amp.

With his head unit he got a scosche slc4 line output converter so that he could still use his factory amp. But since we were in a hurry we decided not to use it. So we hooked up his head unit without it. Then the head unit powered on but there was no sound at all. Is this because we never used the line output converter?

If so, could somebody please explain how to hook it up? Is it supposed to connect the head unit wiring harness to the Head unit?

I'd really appreciate some help, thanks

you shouldnt have to use the loc but it will allow you to adjust the overall volume output to match the volume level of the aftermarket deck. Make sure that the blue/white wire from the aftermarket head unit is connected to the blue wire of the interface harness. If still no sound You may have to jump the remote to the secondary harness in the dash. I'm not %100 but I'm pretty sure its the pink wire thats the factory amp wire.
