Well, i have been browsing around new cars and i came across thse hefty little guys.. But i have some questions about them..

What kinda gas mileage do they get.. city, and highway?

And how much can these trucks tow, we have a 4500-5k lb boat we tote around, and i would wanna make sure it could get it out of the ramp..

Any info would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

Not sure on the mileage part of it. I've read before that they can tow that much weight. If I were you I would look for a 4.3 vortec for the extra power. Also you will need to install an aux ****** cooler. Might also want to think about air shocks out back too.

I have an Astro with a 4.3 vortec, it gets 26-28 on the highway, and 23-24 in town, without my system in, if I put my system in it drops to 20-21 on the highway!!!

It has 96,xxx miles on it though..

nice mileage...

my 98 blazer got 20 mpg it had the vortec 4.3
yup....

Wow......There must be something wrong with my 4.3 Vorte or my foot is too **** heavy......Im seeing like 15-16 thru town...it seems I run out of gas in no time :\
heavy foot, keep her under 3k RPM

i'm seein 9.8 through town.. and i have a light foot (00 durango 5.9)
5.9l not the 4.3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my dad has a silverado with the 4.3(nonvortec) and gets 15-25mpgs. it has 3xx,xxx miles on it, and still going strong. i also had an s10 with the same engine with 236,000 on it when I sold it. only because the truck was ragged, not the motor. same mileage.

My 4.3 never seemed to be a gas guzzler or a sipper. It was avaerage.

The 4.3 will do over 300k miles n/p as long as you take care of them regularly.

As for that 2000 s10 xtreme, you sure it isn't a 2.2? (I know, an xtreme w/ 4 banger, funny isn't it?)

The 4.3 will pull that weight around. But as mentioned, you might have to watch the ****** heat and lets not forget about the brakes.

My trailer has its own brakes, which is extrmely nice. and the 00 extreme has a v6 in it, so im assuming its the 4.3

The v6 is the 4.3, so you are correct. I see alot more 2.2 xtreme trucks than I do 4.3s, so that is why I mentioned that.

And if the trailer has it's own brakes, your good to go i would say.

my 4.3L with K&N full intake gets 15 city and around 20 highway i think. as far as towing go to zr2usa.com or s10forum.com and there is a whole load of info on the towing restrictions.
