GM recall + almost accident

Ive been hearing a sqeeking noise and a clunking noise in the front end of my 1991 euro lumina. Its been going on for months since summer. I was told it was my struts but it wasent. I was pulling out of school school getting ready to get on the expressway i was like amile away. I turn a corner i hear clunk. My steering wheel just spins and spins rotates 360 degrees. Im in the middle of the road and i have no stearing. I back it up to the other side of the road as best as i could. I get out look under my car and the engine cradle its right under neight my engine the 2 bolts in the front broke and my engine was hanging alot lower than it should 3 inches away from ground. When it did this it pulled my steering gear out of place. I looked my car up online and find out theres a recall on these certain bolts. What happend was the cradle in the front rusted around the washer and it fell threw. I call my local dealer and they say they cant fix it becasue its not under there recall list. I dont get how it cant be under there recall list when theres a bunch of pages online about it. What do you think i should do? Ive tried contacing gm's office but they said they will ''try'' to help out someway but can not gaurntee anything. what would you do?

Keep calling GM and try different dealerships.

I work for a Honda dealer, and can tell you if you are persistant, they should cover it. Did you call the 1-800 # in the owners manual? That is where to call. Be polite, but firm- there is a recall, you had a problem related to the recall, you expect repairs to be made or sometype of assistance. One of Honda's favorite deals is they buy the part, you buy the labor. If they offer something, think about it before you refuse or get irate, because they will just as easily jerk it off the table and tell you to piss off. Good luck.

They called today and said they talked to my local dealer and it would cost 1800 dollars Ouch. There suppose to cut us some kind of deal on the parts but we willl see were paying some one to do the labor

If it is a recall, shouldnt they cover it in full? Or is there a certain time period in which recalls are effective after their posted?

For 1800, add some more money onto to it and, buy yourself a new car and throw that pos GM out the window.

If there is a recall, it shouldn't cost you anything, though some recalls expire, after like 8 years or so. You can try contacting the better buisness bureau, or your state's attorney general's office, and see what they have to say.

that car is 14 years old... Most cars start to have serious problems after 10.
