Gluing down surround?

USPS fucked up my RE comps. I bent the edges of the frame back into normal position, and I was wondering if it would be okay to glue the surround back onto the basket. If so, what kind of glue would be best?

Also, I need to pop that dent in the dust cap out, whats the best way to do that?

Honestly, I'd kiss those goodbye. Were they not insured?

You can glue the surround back with some epoxy or other strong adhesive. But, with as mangled up as those look, chances are you will not get original performance out of them.

Yeah man, if they were insured don't even bother yet. Go get your money, buy a new set, and THEN try to fix them. Maybe you can hook a friend up with some cheap components if you can fix them, but AFTER you file the claim.

Jesus, people. Yes, I'm filing a claim with USPS,
The reason I freaked out was because of this statement;

I bent the edges of the frame back into normal position,

Well, if you altered the product prior to UPS inspecting it, that gives them a valid reason to deny your claim. Which means no money and a broken product for you.

I just would like to know if I could salvage anything from this comp set.

Not worth it. The damage to the mid looks to be pretty extensive.....just simply not worth it. As for the tweeter; can't tell if the grill is pushed back far enough to where it's touching the tweeter or not. But, like with the mid.....not really worth it to find out. The RE tweets aren't anything too special anyways.

Yeah, you're right, I shouldn't have bent the frame back, but the people at USPS (not UPS) are so dumb that I don't think they'll notice.

Yes, the tweeter's grill is pushed back and touching the dome. And I'd rather try and salvage these and mess them up, than just throw them away. Its worth a shot.

Well, dismantling the tweeter shouldn't be too hard to get the grill off to bend it back.

And, like I said for the surround, epoxy or gorilla glue or the like should work for holding it down. Just be sure you glue it as close as possible to it's original location.

And I definitely wouldn't say anything about dicking with them prior to their inspection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif And I wouldn't do anything further.

Um... there's a few holes on the backside of the tweeter, but no screws, other than that, there doesn't look like a way to get the tweeter apart...

Lol, "Yeah, I'd like to file an insurance claim." "You haven't tampered with it since you recieved it, have you Sir?" "Yes... :blush:" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
