No kidding...makes me sick to see the lack of responsibility some people have these days.

"The two young children were playing in a bedroom Friday afternoon when they discovered the high-powered, semi-automatic pistol. The girl pointed the gun at her brother and shot him, police said in a release."

what the heck...the girl finds the gun...and automatically points it at her brother and shoots him? she must not have liked him very much...

and no im not joking, thats a pretty sad story.. i feel sorry for the girl and rest of the family except the 22 yr old, thats why you're supposed to have a gun safe, with a lock on all triggers with 3 keys: 1 for the door, 2 for shells, 3 for triggers...

i don't wanna sound like i condone what is depected in that picture..i don't..esp considering glock's type of safety..(bieng on the trigger..and the guy's finger on it...if they have another, my apologizes, i don't own a glock..and won't)

BUT

gun control only works for the ppl who ALREADY obey the gun laws....AND home training is probably the most important thing and the one thing no-one does...

i own several firearms...not a single one locked up...i have a nine year old son who's friends are over all the time..my firearms are never touched..y?..becuz my son is involved with me in the care, shooting, maintening of them and just all around everything i do with them..he does. he just isn't curious about them, he knows what they can do and what they are capable of doing in the wrong hands...

btw..if a person buys a firearm for home/self defense..what good would it do for it to be in a safe if an intruder breaks in? i keep my s&w model 411 in .40 s&w w/ 185 grain sjhp loaded at all times on my headboard..safety on, but out where if needed, it can be brandished quickly....my son knows that it is there and that it is loaded...he also knows y it's there and what will happen to him if he ever bothers it without permission..which he has under my supervision.....

now i know i'm going to catch some shit for this...but i don't care..it needs to get out in the open.......if u are going to own a firearm..TEACH ur children about them, not hide them from ur children. one of my families biggest things is to go shooting/plinking on a weekend...it can be fun for all....BUT u have to pass on the knowledge of gun safety and education......will these solve all home/children involved shootings? no...but do traffic tickets stop speeders? no..and speeding kills just as many kids(if not more) then firearms.......

what's more deadly...a child with a gun..or a child with a saleen mustang?....both are just as deadly, especially without proper training and supervision..YET we hide the guns and give the kids the keys to the car.....hmmmmmmm..think about it..

that's it..i'm done...
