Glass Breaking Stories

zane i need your help with a noise problem...i went down my personal check list on alternater whine on this amp we put in...still has noise i am so poed i want to rip the car apart totally lol is VERY odd.... i unhook the rca's no whine i then reroute the wires outside the car it STILL whines.....its a early 90's dodge daytona 4 channel amp on mids and highs has a dry kenwood deck 4.5 volt out

this guy works with me and is a know it all that dont know all lol he had a jensen amp on a sub and didnt "have this problem" now he seems to think i messed him up....tried explaining reason he didnt hear it before (subs dont play high enough in frequency) but it is STILL my fault ..i just spent 4 hours or so trying to fix it and this is the third place to not fix it lol, i originally installed it supposivly it got "noise "30 minutes after he left...... it just pisses me off i want to fix it. lol

I have my doubts that the RCA's are at fault........

If the noise is present when the RCA's are in car and out of car- the noise is comming from somewhere else. How about looking into the path the remote wire follows, is it basically free of any of the cars on board wiring? Next, try backing off the amplifier gains and see if the noise is still present. There are a whole slew of things it could be. Daytona's are kinda funny with stereo's. They sometimes take the common rules of car audio and throw them for a little twist- so some of the standard rules may not even apply. My old Daytona was this way, as were all the Daytona's/Lasers that I have installed in. Very interesting.....

Worse comes to worse and the noise doesnt stop after trying those 2 things. Go ahead and replace the RCA cable and see what happens. Likely, nothing- but hey- //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Last resort- re-locate the remote wire going back to your amplifiers so that it is positioned directly next to you main power wire going back to the amps.- This is where the normal rules do not apply. My Daytona was not quiet until I did this last idea, crazy enough- it worked too and there was never a noise problem again.

see what happens....

take it easy,

-zane

thanks this kid gets on my nerves...i still say its in his car (it isnt the nicest car ever) i will try grounding the rca's as well as rerouting the remote i never had to "ground" these either. tried a new cable routed outside of the **** car too . i never checked the gains either i should have but then again i am from the school of "no noise at any cost" all my systems had head room hiss not this whine sh*t what i call headroom most call the "noise floor" but the way i describe this to people (my lahmans terms) i call it this being a 0 point although it really isnt 0 its just a starting point but if i dont call it 0 people get lost lol......and would you agree about the sub not making noise? to other non experts at work disagree with me lol and agree with him but i know otherwise

my one friend has the RX 7 with twin turbos very fast car the problem isnt maintaining them its getting them fixed if they have a prob i think its the only car with a rotory engine( german enginering at its best ) but my choice is the new VR6 V Ws love the GTI and the Jetta

My friend claimed to have broken all the windows and glass stuff in his garage. His "killer system" was 4 12" mtx/jensen subs, 2 in ported boxes, 2 in ported boxes sealed with duck tape. His subs were all in seperate boxes, and powered by 2 jensen amps. There was no bass whatsoever (in my opinion), just distortion. But he claimed to break glass. He also had no sound dampining in his car -not even a towl.

---Just thought that was funny!

back on the subject of high end cars the SVS Stryker (viper) takes the cake on this.Viper motor stroked to around a 532 then twin garret intercooled turbos throw on it.several parts changed to state of the art and blueprinted, this car when tested did 0-60 in around 3 second ran a 11.1 ET in the 1/4 mile and this was in the rain spinning down the track (i seen the video no bs the rain was coming down at the time). its good for around 1100hp and 1160 ft/lb torque. in oct. it was going to the salt lands to go for the record i never heard what happen but if it went right it set it. the company is based outta IL and has many cool toys like a 600hp p/t cruiser

legenfelter is about 40 minutes from me they do a mean vette and a mean camaro.........but my dad's boss has a hennassy (spell check) viper that kicks butt.......i think i would only take a '67 tri power 427 vette over it and it might be slower but it turns more heads ...... my dad had one when i was growing up mean car hehe

also only an 11.1? out of 1100 hp? i know ford focuses beefed up that run 9's and tens and if espn was right about what they were saying.even street legal.

put modern rubber on that and your making that viper sweat!

but.........................

898 horsepower; 6200 rpm in fifth Overdrive equals 254.76 mph!
that's the sledgehammer! ain't none faster as of yet! and it's a vette!!

for you ford guys, don't forget the fabled gt40! in 1967 it did 220 mph! check here for the fastest..............

well the car spun the whole track and there is something called gearing when you want a car to do 300 mph in a long distance you gear it down to lets say 2.08 when you want a car too haul *** and get to a nice top speed of lets say 160 but you want it to be done in a 1/4 miles then you use a large gear like a 4.56 or higher .if this viper was tubbed and had a big gear put in it with 1160ft/lb torque the car can most likely pull a mid 7. and not only is this viper street legal it cost less then half of a normal lambo

anyone that acutally races 1/4 and works on the cars knows horsepower just looks good on paper torque is what counts if your gonna supe up a car dont look at how much HP somethings adds look at the torque

my one friend that got his uncles old muscle car some chevel (dont member year)

but it pulls like 700 hp and over 1000 pounds of torque the front end leaps up( not like the full 1/4 but for like 4 feet high and 4 seconds quick time compared to some cars ive seen) but he loves the bragging right of saying that his car makes him sh*t his pants when he floors it

yuh my old man has pictures of his chevelle doing wheelies....wasnt 700 hp but was around 450- 550 396ci motor. i think its funny how our parents say we are stupid haha all i have to say is..."where did you get those pants?"(in old pictures) haha they shut up instantly...especially when i ask them why i was dressed that way back then too. lmao
