Glad I don't live here

What about "fart can" mufflers? What about engine brakes on semis? As uncool as bass drivebys are I find those two things much more annoying.

Illegal to possess a speaker over 12"? an amp over 300W? more than one 10? That ordinance is just asking for a lawsuit the first time they try to enforce it. The wording of the current ordinance as it was stated in the article is bogus, too. "...louder than required for normal listening..." Normal for who? I haven't seen a factory stereo yet that couldn't get "louder than required for normal listening" for an old fart that thinks everything is noise.

If they are going to take ridiculous action to eliminate things that people find annoying, let me propose a few new ordinances:

1) Loud, unruly children in public places are impounded.

2) Dogs that bark more than once after 7PM are shot on sight.

3) Cars with fart can mufflers are sent to the car crusher.

4) People who ignore the road while talking on the phone, yelling at their kids, eating, putting on makeup,etc... and commit a traffic offense or even an inconsiderate act are to be removed from their vehicle and beaten, their car impounded and their license revoked for a period of not less than 5 years.

5) People who ding other people's car doors will be forced to pay to hae the damage fixed to tho owner's satisfaction and then the owner gets to kick them twice in the body part of choice for the inconvenience caused.

I figure those are about on par with that crap and address things that annoy me a whole lot more than loud stereos.

For all the kids who think it is cool to ride through residential neighborhoods "flexin' windows" and disturbing the peace this will be a real nuiscance. Personaly I dont think the bill will pass but if if does, it wont affect me as I dont advertise while rolling through the hood... Just another measure to encourage people to boom responsibly.

That sucks. I'm definately glad I live there. But I have 2 speakers, one 10" sub, and I would put a computer in my car so I could show them the American Bass website where my amp is rated at 150 watts.

It may have been rerated, but the website isn't updated!

And then, I would file a harassment suit against the city, win millions, and have my car dipped in 24K gold, windshield and all. I couldn't see, but man, would it be original.

Sorry, got carried away...

LMAO, that was probobly the best thing i have ever read.

I don't have any speaker(s) in my car larger than 12" in diameter.

I do not have more than two amplifiers currently installed (though before I bought my KAC-PS500F 4ch I ran two smaller 4ch units in its place...)

I do not have two or more 10" drivers - I don't have any 10" drivers at all. (in my car)

I do not have more than 10 speakers overall (if you count my component sets as 2 drivers per side my overall total is 9)

I guess the only part of the proposed regulation that I currently violate is having an amplifier over 300 watts (both of mine are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Bummer, I guess?!)

The first time someone's car gets impounded there will be such a monstrous backlash against the city of St. Louis in civil court I would suggest that it won't remain an active ordinace long (if the mayor is foolish enough to sign it in the first place)

If it is going to be illegal to own and/or install any speaker over 12" will that make it a crime for car audio retailers to even stock 15" and larger subs? There are so many things inherently wrong with this lunacy I truly don't even know where to begin.

Thanks heaps, people like Michael Wright and those audio enthusiasts that are seemingly unable or unwilling to bump responsibly. It is directly your fault that such things happen.

Good job, St. Louis!

[/sarcasm]

Can You say RE MT 10 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Put her in a wall, and find an old school orion amp rated ~300watts and pound away

The bill would prohibit operating car stereo equipment that creates "louder volume than is necessary for convenient, normal hearing," which is the same language as the city's current anti-noise ordinance.

I wonder if they seize your house if your home stereo is loud? Parts of America are getting more fascist everyday ;(

this pisses me off! I live about 30min from downtown St. Louis! There is so many bullshit laws in MO......im speechless:furious: Every1 in St. Louis should pull up to the Mayor Slays house and bump music all night while he tries to seep no matter what the fines lol....
