6.5" PG Rsd's to replace my Pioneer 6x8" 240w speakers.

The Pioneer's

I have some 1/2" thick mdf, but the main problem is theres like a slight and I mean a slight bit of metal frame which wont allow the PG to sit comfortably from side to side and of course there is the large gaps to the north and south of the speaker but hopefully that could be solved with the mdf somehow?

Any ideas and/or tips?

No "Just get 6x8's and be done with it"'s, please.... -.-

Cut out a piece of MDF like this:

Attach it to the door using the existing holes that the 6x8s used. The metal blocking the 6.5s won't matter when the speakers are raised 1/2". How could you not think of this on your own?
