Hello. Hello. Hello.
wtf is the deal here, i am told that i have to hook this huge honkin fugger up to the new HU and the old radio. will a regular harness work in it's place or do i have to keep the old radio?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif btw this is in a 2003 malibu.

You need the special adapter harness. Due to GM having run all sorts of electronic goodies through the Stock HU you have to relocate it for them all to still work. It is VERY important that you do it (safety reasons - the airbags are run through it iirc).

you need the GMRC-01 or the GWH22 from metra. The harness in most stores is $75. Butt **** I know. sorry.

Tehe...GM is dumb.

I love when people complain to me that they have to buy an $80 harness...I tell em to call GM and complain, don't whine about it to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hmmmm, this is seriously gay, i got that harness, but it was only 40 at tweeter. Next car is a mopar.

edit, just looked at the reciept. 26 bucks i payed, plus the mounting kit.

If you pull the factory radio, it won't affect the air bags. The main thing you'll lose is the warning chimes; door chime, lights left on chime, seatbelt chime. Whether you relocate the factory deck or not, you'll still need to find accessory power somewhere else; there's no accessory power wire behind the head unit. I like to go to the brown wire at the key switch.

This shit is a bs if you ask me. I have a 2002 chevy cavalier and had that crazy *** stock system. I was told as well I would have to spend 75 bucks to get that wiring harness so everything works fine. Well I didnt have the money at the time so just went with it. I forget the model # but is was like 12 bucks or something and works fine. They said i would lose airbags and certain lights and buzzers to the doors. All works fine for me. Well hopefully... hate to get in a accident and airbags not work. Malibu's might be different, I dont know. But sounds like me you are having same problem I had. I have been driving on this harness for months now. Good luck!
