Getting SPL out of 1 Alpine Type-R 1241D

Yep i'm a ***** , i already posted this in the Box Construction forum but got only 15 views and that's not enough //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif Sorry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

So , i got a Type-R 1241D in a ~0.75cu.ft. sealed box , and to be honest i'm dissapointed on the "SPL" part .... I'm powering the sub with a JBL GT75.4 amp , running 294RMS/ voice coil. Yes , i'm powering my sub with a 4 channel amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif that's the situation , it's because of my location Romania.

I was thinking about going ported. I want a serious improvement on the SPL part .... i was thinking to tune to 30Hz since i have no SSF. But i don't know the volume ... i understand that 1.6 would be recommended , but would it make enough difference ? I went through 15 pages of topics with the word "Type-R" and i haven't found a good solution .... Jmac recommended in one of this topics about a 2.5 ft^3 box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Hopefully this topic will fill the gap of Type-R SPL/SQL needs, as i searched and found no help. Now we got a topic with "Type-R" and "SPL" in the title //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Not wanting to be an annoying noob, but 1 thread in excess won't do any harm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

Remember , i used the //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/search.gif.e79a63b2b580b39b282dff402646b704.gif up and down ... :p

So , how to get decent SPL out of one 12" Type-R ? Power is enough without SSF , but i need a box ..... also , on Ibanezcollectors vids on RealOfExcursion the box looks huge , and it's a 10" if i remember....

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif

Some guy I know has hit 150db with 1 Type R. But that was with a viper (3200 or 2800 or whichever is the high one) but he was tuned to 38 hz. I have 400 watts in a 3 cube box tuned to 33hz, man it gets some pretty good SPL im not disapointed plus it still sounds like butter. But I dont know waht to do about not having a ssf, but for the box size, it depends on your power. The type R can handle alot more power then what is rated on it, you could probably put it in a 2-2.5 cube box.

30Hz? That box is tuned way too low if you want max SPL out of a single driver...run some sweeps with a sealed box, determine your vehicle's resonant frequency - use that information to build a box to suit.

Tune it higher than 30hz, make the ported box and make the port big //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Unfortunately thecaraudiobox.com doesn't mention the volumes :p, but like you people said , they have big, wide ports. Another TypeR is not an option for me , it costs 240$ here. Yes , 240$ for a 12" Type-R.

So i need to tune higher, but i can't because of no SSF. Maybe 33Hz will be ok ?

The volume ... hmmm ... i'm running 294RMS / voicecoil , of course with a ported box 350-400RMS would be ok. I'm plotting the box details in BassBoxPro6 but i don't know what to look for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .....

Let's take a look again , what do i know at the moment.

1. Huge port as seen on http://www.thecaraudiobox.com/installs/

2. I shouldn't go very big (like 3 ft^3) (because of no SSF)

Got any kind of tips about the box volume what would be the limit bearing in mind that i have no SSF and more then 300RMS ...
