getting rid of bass in speakers.

well ive got a friend that has un-amplified 4x6s. they get loud enough but the bass really distorts them at higher levels. he has 2 8s, and there is no subwoofer output on his h/u so he has to keep the bass up to hear the subs. we bought some $12 bass blockers (400hz) from circuit city, but they let alota bass in when the volume is cranked.

so my question is how do we get rid of the bass on the 4x6s?

wire the system correctly.

use a LOC and turn the bass down on the hu. then set the gain correctly on the amp for the 8's

its not my h/u btw, but its a dual. it doesn't have shit. can he get a crossover like a component set uses and will that cut the bass out?
