getting outa jury duty?

Did you do or say anything to not get picked? Or did you just act normal and they just told you to go home cause you werent picked.
they asked me if I know criminals (I do) and some other stuff about where I live and all that. The thing is you can't appear to be for or against the defendant. But you could land a civil case which sucks more. Take my word man, it sucks. I say if it's a criminal case, keep looking at the defendant. Not with a mean glare or anything, but look at him enough to freak him out and the lawyers might catch on and not pick you. Then you get to pick up your little 17.50 check and go swimming.

Won't work. You ever been to jury duty? you gotta go or it's a criminal offense or some shit. If a note worked no one would ever go. You can call a day or 2 ahead to some number and it will tell you if you really have to go. At least that's how it works here.
try some of this stuff

Yes, i served for 3 out of 4 months. My job fired a manager, and needed me. My boss wrote a letter addressed to the city council or w/e and said how i was needed due to a loss of an employee. I took it the judge's secretary. Worked.

I had to go to jury duty last summer.

Took the train downtown, sat in the courthouse for 9 hours, didn't even get called into a courtroom, and took the train home.

The check they gave me didnt even cover the cost of the train rides. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

My letter came with this little voucher thing for a free trolley ride or whatever. Not sure how to use it though.

They were justifiably suspicious of white guys with a 'fro.

call them up and tell them you moved. They won't check, they'll just take you off the list. When I moved from one part of the state to another, I got a jury duty thing in the mail from the last city I was in. I called them and told them i moved and they said "okay, thanks." and that was it.

I actually wouldn't have minded doing it if it was just for the day. Sitting in that room for 9 hours drove me crazy.

The only good part about it was the courthouse was in downtown chicago so at least I got to do a little sightseeing.
