getting outa jury duty?

I got a paper in the mail telling me I have jury duty on the 8th. Didnt think much of it. I kinda wanna do it actually.

But, I was recently hired as a life guard at a water park and I have life guard training 4 days after that.

If by chance I got put on a case or whatever, and it goes on for more than 3 days, I could potentially be screwed because missing out on the training would basically mean no job for me.

Thoughts? How long does jury duty usually last for if your on a case?

X2, either that or say you know the guy being tried, they will let you off. They always scedule more jurors than they actually need incase something like this happens.

Could I just flat out tell them that this could possibly make me lose my job?

Rather not have to be a dick and say Im a racist mother ****er and that all murderers need to be put to death and what not.

You've got a pretty good chance of not having to show up, anyway. Both times I've been summoned to show up, I got calls beforehand saying the cases were settled.

just say you had a friend who got ***** or shot or what ever the charge is and that it would affect your decision.

That wouldn't work, and actually legally your job has to let you off and cannot punish you if you get a summon. You will get a letter from the courts excusing you from any prior arrangements.

Get a professional letter typed by whoever is in charge at your training thing that states you are valuable to them blah blah. Worked for me.

I already know about that. But this is training for my job. Its only scheduled at certain times. Ive been waiting for 2 1/2 weeks for this training. Not like I can just show up on a different day.

it is very unlikely that a case will go more than a day
