okay

my options are:

Black berry Curve:

+black berry OS

+full keyboard

+good brand

-no touch screen

Samsung Instinct:

+Touch screen

+portrait and landscape keyboard

+seems like a fun phone

-iphone clone?

-novelty of a touch screen wear off and it'll ****?

Palm Centro

+touch screen

+full keyboard

+pda/phone hybrid

-palm OS

-ugly

-not very "cool" of a phone but very useful

I have an iphone 3g and the only thing that bothers me with a touch screen is the smudges, I need another clear cover //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Out of those choices I would get the black berry.

yeah what service do you have... sprint i believe right??? If so, I'd wait for that new blackberry bold to come out, should be within the next month and it's supposedly pretty sweet. Don't buy the centro, as it's about to be replaced by the treo pro which is already available for pre-order. Don't like the instinct at all, and neither did a lot of people that did that 30 day challenge. All of these wanna be iPhones fail at one thing... multi touch. Until a phone with a touchscreen comes out with multitouch(ability to use 2 fingers at once) none will compete. As far as the blackberry.... they are what they are, people either love or hate them, but i'd wait for the new one.

yeah, i've got sprint. if it wasnt for the fact that they dont know exactly when my upgrade date is due to a bunch of contract shit that happened (some guy called us and convinced my mom to upgrade to a driff contract which didnt benifit us at all and we had it reverted to the old contract) they dont have the date of when i started useing my razor which was about 20 months ago and the update deal goes for every 22 months i'd like to upgrade before they have a chance to change their mind. i'll only be getting it for about 150 bucks too

Get the Blackberry. The Instinct is no iPhone clone. It lacks a lot of the features that the iPhone has, including the fact that its not a smartphone or a PPC. The applications are very limited, just as if it were a regular phone. To the fellow that says that no other phone has multitouch, this one has it as well as the new Sprint Diamond.

What are you going to use it for? I wouldn't get a smartphone it I wouldn't use all of its features.

The instinct does not have multi touch afaik..... there is a samsung that does, but it's not called the instinct. the other phone is the HTC touch diamond, and it is not available at the moment. Plus that runs winmo which is sh**ty imho.

The other Samsung that you are referring to is the Samsung Omnia. Both phones have multitouch. Its just that the instinct does not have smartphone capability. The Omnia also runs WM. And if you think WM is shitty, what software is good? WM phones are more than capable of doing everything the iPhone does. The Touch Diamond was out before the iPhone and is pretty much in a league of its own. The iPhone doesn't even compare. Sprint will be bringing it stateside pretty soon. Also, wait for the release of WM7. All I can say is, bye bye iPhone.

Well, actually, the instinct is NOT multitouch.... proof here:

http://www.palmblvd.com/articles/2008/4/2008-4-5-Preview-Is-Samsung.html

Like the iPhone, the Instinct sports an advanced touch interface that allows your fingers to easily do the flicking and navigating on its 3.1-inch display.
Its display, which isn't multitouch and of a lower resolution than the iPhone, is based on the resistive technology most people have become accustomed to on their PDAs and smartphones over the years. Whereas the capacitive technology used in iPhone "detects a finger drawing off current from an electric field over the screen," for input, as SmartPhoneToday reader Kevin explains in the opinion section of this article. We mistakenly said heat originally.
And yes, winmo does ****. Why do you think the omnia and touch use such modified versions of it. Only thing that makes winmo better than the iPhone is open dev support and platforms, but the app store almost makes up for it. I would say that blackberry makes the best smartphone os out there.... why do you think it is the most frequently used amongst the business crowd??

And finally, the htc touch diamond and touch diamond pro have NOT been released yet for US carriers. It will be released later this year for Sprint, and is rumored and highly likely, but not confirmed for Verizon and Att.... and it was not released before the iPhone....

The HTC Touch Diamond was first available in Hong Kong in late May 2008
So pretty much I don't think you know what you are talking about....
