Matt Hughes just went in unprepared. Pierre is an awesome fighter though. Matt didn't even know what happened. First Franklin, Now Hughes. I Hope Chuck Lidell wins! Ortiz is cocky.

i dont think matt hughes went in unprepared i think his self-conscious got the better of him. St. Pierre stiked like a frikkin mongoose he was in and out like lightning. there was no way matt hughes could keep up with him and i think matt saw that early on in round 1 how fast st. pierre was. matt hughes is pretty old compared to st pierre though.. pierre kept putting hands on him and then stepping back to the point where matt hughes had to doubt himself and must've started losing a lot of confidence.. ive never seen someone strike so quick AND graceful.. st. pierre is my new favorite UFC fighter now HAHA

It's simple. Matt Hughes WAS Unprepared. He didn't study Pierre. He should have known that Pierre's standup is amazing and hes a fast bastid. Hughes should have stuck to what he's good at; Slammin people down, ground and pound & possibly a Submission.
It's just that simple.

im pretty sure the welterweight champion didnt sit on his *** and down beers and think he was going to take out pierre like it was no thing. im sure he did his end of preparing but oviously his training was not enough to take on st. pierre and id be willing to bet a lot of money that in a rematch st. piere will still take him regardless of how much matt hughes tries to train. i see a lot of ambition and a strong drive in st. pierre. i dont think theres anyway for matt huhges to take on st. pierre now.. hes matured and improved a whole lot to the point where hughes is in his dust now and he arrogantly knows it.

Hughes got him down in the first fight....Hughes won. No he wasn't drinking beers, but obviously he was being arrogant and dumb thinking he could stand up with him. Pierre is fast and strong. Get him on the ground and that's where someone has the best chance of beating him.

dude, if you see the fight youll see hughes get manhandled like hes never been manhandled before. st. pierre strategically beat the shit out of him and took his time and hughes couldnt even touch him.. literally... you cant say hughes was unprepared his title was on the line you think a champion is going to go into the ring unprepared? you dont loose a fight and say you were unprepared, you lose a fight and say the other man was the better man. its THAT simple.

he got him down but couldnt take him to the ground and sumbit him.. pierrewas too quick he wouldve reversed his atetmpts to take him to the ground.. im sure hughes was actually trying and was actually strategizing himself but he couldnt find the loophole he was looking for.
I knew that was going to be a **** good fight. Pierre wasnt doing too bad the 1st time he had a go at Hughes, he was still green and the 1st mistake he made he got tapped. 2yrs of progress & 100% more confidence then in the 1st fight, it was a given this would happen.
