I was speaking to Pioneer tech, I told him to my understand if you have the sub in a port enclosure tuned higher (say 50hz) than what hz is playing on music (say 30hz) it can potentially damage the sub....? He said NO.

So what's a good safe zone because Pioneer for some strange reason recommended a MAX 1.6^3ft enclosure tuned to about 50hz. I'm going to build something like that but tunned lower to a safer point.

with higher tuning you don't play the lows as well, but with lower tuning in the mid 30 gives you a better overall playin frequency.

A box tune 50hz and higher wouldn't be that great to play music in. But for competition purposes 50hz is respectable.
