general assistance requested

he did a window tint job for a friend and in return he was given the sub and tweeters. his specialty is exterior car mods...he winces and shrugs when asked about sound systems, especially his, yet he wants good sound. so, basically speaking, he wants his tweeters and subs to work as tweeters and subs driven by his 4x75w (if i remember correctly) system. my thought was to just use high/low/band pass filters.

i'll tell him that it shouldn't be done. i'll clear the year worth of dust from them to see if they are of quality. if so, i'll buy them from him.

with that out of the way it's back to my car and taking pix of the oh-so-terrible system that is installed. should have some posted here by early afternoon.

thanks again for your help; very quick and informative.

here are some 'before' pix (taken yesterday). i suppose nearly everyone makes this statement, yet i still feel that i need to make it - the current system appears to be and is horrible. it was that way when i bought the car.

on with the photos.

new location (red outline) of the 1911 hu when it arrives. i will be doing fiber glass work, painting, etc.:

location of rear 6(?)". i never bothered to secure them or cover them as the plan was to install a new system:

and given your suggestion of upgrading the amp, i'm heavily considering this one

I'm running a PPI A404 (4 ch amp) to all my speakers. No problem and it gets plenty loud for me. I'm running it mixed mono. Might ditch the rears and just run it like they're recommending for you. Just have to find the time...

Front: 6.5" Polk seperates

Rear: 6.5" Polk Coax's

Sub: 12" Polk EX.

yeah, the rears are going. i'm putting the mids up front. i'm going to detail the back deck and mesh the holes; they'll be ports and venting for the sub.

the component system that was linked earlier actually looks pretty good. i will have to go with the 6" though as that is all the room that i have on the doors. even 6" will be a challenge. i sent some email messages to some companies requesting a diagram with the measurements of the 6". as soon as i get them, i'll be ordering the appropriate system.

well, things are arriving a piece at a time. quick question:

the crossovers in the component speakers; should i put them up front or in the back?
