Gaypal and FeeBay

Anyone else hate these? I sell some wheels that I am already losing $100 on due to a turn around deal gone wrong. The wheels sell for $485 which is still a $65 loss, so I figure its not that bad. Well, I was wrong. I get the money and paypal takes a huge chunk out of the money to start with ($17). Then I figured that the fee would include the eBay fees (yeah right) since Paypal and eBay are the same company. So today I get an eBay invoice for another $18. That brings my loss down to $100 again. Paypal double-billed me for something I bought on eBay once. No problem, because I got the second payment back, right? Wrong. The double billing caused a series of overdrafts on my account, leaving me out another $93. They refused to do anything to compensate me for their mistake.

I just got back from my local UPS store and they decide that since they aren't an official "The UPS Store" that they can charge an extra $35 on top of what ups.com quoted me. So my total losses are $130. I should have just brought them to a pawn shop and saved myself the hassle.

When I sold my wheels, I only listed them on ebay. I didn't do the transaction over ebay because of the fee I would have got hit with. The wheels sold for $2800 btw. Dude was willing to send a money order, then I shipped. Everything was done over email. Unfortunately, you won't be able to do many deals like this.

Another reason I hate egay.......trying to sell something for a buddy, just listed it last night around midnight, and already I've received two questions like this:

Q: HELLO SELLER I HAVE SO MUCH INTRESTED IN BUYING UR ITEM I WANT TO SEND THE ITEM TO MY CHILDREN IN AFRICA FOR THERE CHRISTMASS GIFT AND I WILL BE MAKING THE PAYMENT VIA CASHIER CHECK AND I WILL INCLUDE THE AMOUNT OF THE ITEM AND THE SHIPPING COST IN THE CHECK AND I WILL ASLO INCLUDE ANDOVER FEES IN THE CHECK BCOS I AM A PILOT AND I DONT HAVE TIME AS FOR NOW SO WHEN YOU GET THE CHECK CASHED YOU WILL SEND THE ITEM AND THE REMAINING MONEY TO MY CHILDREN SO THAT THEY CAN BE ABLE TO GET IT FROM THE COURIER SERVICE BCOS I WAS TOLD BY THEM THAT THEY USED TO PAY FOR THE GOODS DELIVERING BEFORE GETTING IT FROM THE COURIER SERVICES.SO I WANT YOU TO SEND ME THE FINAL PRICE YOU WILL SELL IT TO ME AND SEND ME UR FULL NAME,ADDRESS WITH PHONE# SO THAT THE CHECK CAN BE ISSUE , THANKS.

WOW! That sounds like an excellent deal! How about instead you send me your full name and address to expedite the process. Then, when the check bounces, and the bank comes after me for the funds (apparently the bank doesn't like receiving fraudulent checks...go figure), I'll know exactly where to send the bank as well as the FBI agents! You have just been reported to ebay. Do not solicit me with your scam proposal again or the FBI will be notified.

I have had nothing but success on eBay. Paypal also has helped me immensely in paying for things and accepting payments. I firmly belive that it is one of the most secure ways of payment.

Oh and another thing, If you are selling on ebay, you should factor in all the cost in your price i.e. words include all listing and selling fees and also include paypal fees in the price.

Ebay and paypal work out great for me just gotta know how to use them properly.
