well. i'll admit it. free gas for me.
but for all those that don't know, here's a little lesson.

Don't get mad at the gas stations, they are not making any money off of gas sales. I promise you that. I know, my parents own 2 gas stations. Whatever price the gas is at the pump, our cost is about 4 to 5 cents less per gallon. After paying for the pumps, tanks, and all systems, the electricity to run it, and the man hours involved, we actually lose money on gas.

The only reason that stations keep gas is so when you fill up on gas, you come in and buy that drink and candybar and what not while your there. thats where money is made.

but why are gas prices so spenisve over here than lets say minnesota? Are u sure its not just supply and demand?

Gas is heavily taxed.

35% is taken away from the gas station

some for the state, all the rest for the Gov't

yep yep. about 50% of what you pay for a gallon of gas is taxes. Some for import tarrifs, some for refining taxes, some i guess just cause the government feels like it.

It realy sucks. what pissis me off is Kerry wants to raise the taxes on petroleum even more. go figure that one out.

I drive an '88 Grand Caravan SE...and I barely make it into the double digits except on highway driving. I'm a little scared to calculate my gas mileage, last time I did it was like 9.8 mpg city/highway. I don't even drive it very hard at all...

WOAHHH ARE YOU SERIOUS??? that right there my friend is the worst gas mileage i have ever seen.... duz the caravan have an extremely small gas tank or something??

Do you have the 4 cyl one? there is a porblem with the head on those. a vent/drain of some kind gets clogged and backs up waste oil on the valves and causes the van to smoke and/or lose gas milage.... i have a 89 mini ram. like a caravan with no windows in the back, all solid sheet metal. It is the official party bus. outfitted with 2 keg holders, built in 110 quart cooler. and a decent sound system that folds out with the back deck to keep the tunes going at parties...

my first car was a 1972 mustang mach 1 with a modded 460ci big block.
I was scared to even try to calculate the GPM (gallons per mile)

We had a 1973 mustang mach one, it was a POS.

I consider it one of the ugliest mustangs.....ever.

you have a messed up van.There are cheap ways to bump that MPG up in those vans.

I have a plymouth acclaim (same engine)

flakko- Yes, smaller gas tanks = lower miles per gallon.

phrozen5100- from what I've read in tons of car magazines, dodges have never been known for good fuel mileage.

supa_c: "Hybrids rule !" Oh blow me. I saw the j/k but dang, those things take like 13 seconds to get to 60. Holy $hit! If I had a hybrid, I would drive it off a cliff, but the short run-up would probably mean a 5mph plummit to a dinged-up bumper.

The funny thing is, every time I see a hybrid on the highway, it's in the fast lane doing 85. Yeah, that's a real good way to push 50mpg. NOT. That tiny 3- or 4-banger is probably sh*tting itself to a hernia trying to overcome all that wind resistance, even if the body is shaped to be more aerodynamic than normal cars.

"I walk to school," yeah you try walking 15 miles at 7 in the morning when it's freezing and dark. That's right, you'd have to start at about 3 in the morning, so it'd be even better conditions.

And to make it easier, every time I fill up (at least when I pay for it), I just think about how much fun it is to drive my car and remember that fun ain't free. But if I had to pay for 15mpg on some boring SUV, I'd be pissed. At least I have a ton of fun with the gas I burn.

oh yeah. They are probably one of the ugliest mustangs ever made, but with a souped up 460, it was nice to have the extra weight of the million inch wheel base.

It was even uglier considering the condition it was in. when I sold it, I was about half way done with the body work, so it was a mix of welds black antioxidant and primer. It was a solid car though.

the guy i sold it to did a 13 flat with nothing but a b&m shift kit in the c6. I sold him the kit with the car. i kinda wish I had put it in.

ummm... no. It will lessen how far you go. but it will not change the fuel consumption of the engine.
