Also remember that 2,000 is the MAX you want to spend. You dont' need to buy every bell and whistle to get to 2,000. You would be amazed how many people add things they don't need.
4GB is overkill, but due to prices being so low, it is well worth it. Expect ram prices to rise in the coming months as well. If you keep information on your computer that is very important, think about a RAID (at least 2 hard drives) so you can mirror the drives. This will allow you have a backup of everything. But having 2 video cards (SLI) or 2 or more harddrive etc is just more things that can go wrong.
