fusing

hello everyone,

my first time here and I have a question I'm finally planning my last audio build (hopfully) and how should I fuse it properly running 5000 watts rms through three amps rockford bd4000.1 and two kicker zx450.2 now adding up the amperages it comes to 650 amps and I can't find a fuse big enough. I could fuse the amps seperatly but this leaves the main power wire coming in alone and I don't want to do that. What would the proper thing to do be? Thank you, everyone!

bd4000.1 at 1 ohm = 4000 watts rms, zx450.s at 2 ohms = 450 watts rms (x2) = 900 watts which comes to 4900 total rms wattage, (not trin to sound like a smart ***)

Run sep. runs to each amp/distro block with fuses will be just fine. One for ea amp/shouldnt be an issue as long as you have the power supply to back it up for ea amps needs min.

yes, I was planing to add 4 xs batteries and use a isolator for the vehicles battery all running to a power junction and the amps feeding off of that. A rf 10f hybrid cap for the bd4000.1 and rf 1f cap for each zx450.2 amps. was thinking of adding a high output alternator too, I'd rather save the money if it's not a must to have.

A savings for starters would be NOT BUYING THE CAPS..There is a Sticky on caps thet you need to take a look at in the help section i believe.Take a look at it/read about Caps

Yeah, you need multiple runs of wiring anyway, a single 1/0AWG cannot support that draw. But then again, you don't have anything up front right now that will push that kind of current. If you are estimating 650A of draw, where do you think you are going to be getting all that juice from? Sure, you will have some battery reserve, but that will not last that long. You are going to need to recharge them. You need a HO alternator running that much power if you plan on using this as a daily and playing for decent amounts of time. Plain and simple. A big one. And then, you will need a couple runs of wire.

Thank you guys so much!!!

I must now redraw my power supply diagram. but first I will read up on the importance of a cap or the lack of. I wanted them because I know an amp is not a constant draw when the bass hits that's the demand for current and a cap is very efficent at charge\discharge. Time to refresh myself, I'm smarter than this thanks again guys.

A couple sites about caps. They are useful in smoothing out voltage peaks seen by your amp, but not as a battery as most uneducated people use them for.
