Fusing

I have a dude at HondaSwap.com telling me that if I have an amp fused at 50A, and I put a 100A fuse under the hood, I will harm the amp, and that the under-hood fuse should blow before the amp fuse.

I say no, that's fine. The fuses on the amp will protect the amp, and the fuse under the hood is to protect the electrical system.

Meh, your second statement is correct. You underfuse it, you run the risk of it blowing under normal operating conditions. Its rated at a fuse that will blow when the draw would harm the amp. You underfuse it, you are limiting the amps ability to draw more.

Right now on my AQ2200 I have a 150a fuse going to it, but its rated for 200 amps.

I have a couple 250a fuses laying around but the fuse wouldn't pop since its rated high..

i have heard that too. the fuse is in the hood to protect car fires, not the amp
