Fusing

Wouldn't hurt it, but i'd rather under fuse than over fuse.
Fuse the amp for what its rated for..
Meh, your second statement is correct. You underfuse it, you run the risk of it blowing under normal operating conditions. Its rated at a fuse that will blow when the draw would harm the amp. You underfuse it, you are limiting the amps ability to draw more.
Jbizzle's amp requires an external fuse with a rating of 200A, therefore if he does not have a 200A fuse, then something smaller that he DOES have is the smart way to go.

Most amplifiers have on board fuses that protect the amp. In this case, which is 99% of the time, a fuse should be installed that will protect the wire.

And the guy on hondawhatever.com is a moron.

I just asked him a question that'll blow his mind.

"if it were a perfect environment and there were 0 risk of a short, would you need a fuse under the hood?"

I guarantee you he'll say yes

So if you have an amp that'll pull 200 amps a 150 amp fuse would be fine on it? How about if you exceed the limit and have a 250 amp fuse on an amp that'll pull 200 amps? What's the diference?

The difference is the amp is designed to handle less than 200A. If you put a 250A fuse on it, and something happens, your amp is going up in either a ball of smoke or flames.

Even if the amplifier is rated for 200A, on a daily setup you'd likely see less than 50% of that

If you have an amp that can draw 200A with a 150A fuse on it, chances are, you're fine, because fuses have a tolerance before they will pop. 200A can pass through a 150A fuse, so long as its not a prolonged period of time (more than a few seconds)

Due to the dynamic nature of music, most of the time, the amp won't be drawing 200A. Therefore, you're fine with a 150A fuse.

If you have a 250A fuse on an amp that draws 200A max, there really won't be much that could go wrong.

Edit: I was speaking of an under-hood fuse. Ultimate, looks like you were speaking of a fuse on the amp.

Yea thats where the confusion is in this thread, two different locations and two different purposes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
